Mimi’s Handmade Clarksburg: A Must-Try Ice Cream Shop in Maryland

October 11, 2026

I scream, you scream, you already know the rest, Nomsters. My mom and I were doing a little shopping at the Clarksburg Premium Outlets the other day, and I obviously had to scope out the food situation, lol. I was so happy to spot Mimi’s Handmade Ice Cream out there, because I’d tried their scoops once before at the Arlington shop and really enjoyed them.

Mimi’s is a handmade, small-batch ice cream maker known for creative, rotating flavors, and this Clarksburg location tucks right into the outlets, so it’s the perfect reward after a few hours of deal-hunting. Short version, we sampled a bunch, my mom and I each grabbed a scoop, and the Choco Choco won the whole day for me! If you’re out that way with a sweet tooth, this one’s a must.

What Makes Mimi’s Handmade a Standout Ice Cream Spot in Clarksburg

What sets Mimi’s apart is right in the name: it’s handmade, made in small batches with all-natural, locally sourced ingredients, and it shows. The brand started with a flagship shop in Arlington back in 2022 and has since grown to a handful of spots around Maryland and Northern Virginia, with the Clarksburg scoop shop landing inside the outlets. The real signature, though, is the flavor program.

Mimi’s leans experimental in the best way, rotating through creative scoops that change by location and season, so there’s always something you won’t find at a standard ice cream counter. It’s the kind of place where you can play it safe or go adventurous, and both pay off.

What to Order at Mimi’s Handmade

Here’s the move: sample first. You can sample a few before you commit, and honestly every single thing I tried was yummy, so take your time. Single scoops run $5.50 on a sugar cone, with toppings around $1.25 if you want to dress it up. Here’s what we got and what I’d steer you toward.

Choco Choco ($5.50)

I’m a sucker for dark chocolate everything, so the Choco Choco had my name all over it, and it absolutely delivered. It hit exactly the dark-chocolate note I was after, and it was my favorite of the whole visit. Serious chocolate lovers, this is the one to get.

Pistachio ($5.50)

My mom went with the Pistachio, and it was delicious too. We both agreed mine edged it out, but hers was a genuinely strong pick, and I may or may not have switched cones with her halfway through because I’m such a great daughter, LOL. If you’re a nut-ice-cream person, you’ll be happy.

The Experimental Flavors

This is where Mimi’s really flexes. Depending on the day and the location, you might spot scoops like ube, black sesame, Thai iced tea, or genuinely wild ones like wasabi peas, sweet corn, or grilled beets. I didn’t branch out this visit (the chocolate called), but if you’re the adventurous type, this is your playground.

They also do sorbets and vegan options, so the dairy-free crowd isn’t left out. I almost grabbed the birthday cake for old times’ sake, since that and cotton candy were my childhood favorites, but I’ll save it for next time.

A Sweet Little Mom-and-Me Treat

Part of what made this stop so fun was just doing it with my mom. We sampled a bunch of flavors and then swapped cones halfway through so we each got to try more. It’s a small thing, but a shared scoop stop with your mom is one of the sweetest ways to cap off a shopping trip!

The Vibe and Experience

Since it’s inside the Clarksburg Premium Outlets, Mimi’s is a casual, grab-and-go kind of stop rather than a sit-down destination, which is honestly perfect for an outlet day. It’s family-friendly, quick, and the samples make it easy to bring along picky eaters or kids who need to taste before they trust. They even do pup cups, so your floof doesn’t get left out, and you can grab pints to go to keep the party going at home.

Is Mimi’s Handmade Worth A Trip?

Yes, especially if you’re already out at the outlets and craving something sweet. The quality’s there, the flavors are more interesting than your average scoop shop, and at $5.50 a scoop it’s an easy, affordable treat. The Choco Choco earns my full recommendation if you love dark chocolate, and the adventurous flavors are worth a sample run if you’re feeling bold. If you’re heading to the Clarksburg outlets, it’s an easy yes.
