I’m re-featuring an oldie but a goodie today, because this spot deserves the love. Arundel Donuts in Glen Burnie is easily one of the best donut shops in Maryland IMO, and I don’t say that lightly. Their baked goods are fantastic, but their service is even better, which is honestly rare. It’s the kind of place that earned a spot on my roundup of the best donuts in Maryland the second I walked out with my box.
They keep things classic here. No gimmicky, over-the-top stuff, just really well-made donuts and a whole lot of housemade flavors to work through, which is honestly my favorite kind of donut shop. It’s the sort of no-frills, made-fresh-daily spot that earns a loyal following the old-fashioned way. Everything I’ve had’s been good, but there are three I’d tell you to grab first.

What to Order at Arundel Donuts
Everything’s good here, but if you’re only getting a few, these are the ones I always point people to.
Apple Fritter
This is the one I tell everyone to get first. Fritters are the make-or-break item at any donut shop for me, and Arundel’s holds up, which is a big part of why I trust the rest of the case. Once you find a shop whose fritter you love, it’s hard to bother with anywhere else, and this is that shop for me. If you’d rather watch your donut get fried and coated to order, that’s more the vibe over at Sandy Pony Donuts down in the Annapolis area, but Arundel’s fresh-that-morning fritter’s my go-to.
Marshmallow Donut
The marshmallow donut’s my second must-get, and it’s the kind of housemade flavor you don’t spot at every corner shop. It’s a fun change of pace from the usual glaze-and-sprinkles lineup, and it’s exactly the sort of thing I want when I’m not in a plain-donut mood. Grab one before they run out, because they do.
Glazed
Never skip a good glazed, and theirs is one of the best. A plain glazed hides nothing, so it all comes down to the dough and the glaze, and that’s a bar plenty of shops can’t clear. Arundel’s clears it. It’s the one I’d hand a first-timer to see what the shop’s really about, simple, fresh, and exactly what you want with your morning coffee. Between these three you’ve basically got the whole personality of the place, but everything I’ve tried here’s been worth the trip.

Before You Go to Arundel Donuts
Arundel Donuts is a cash-only spot, though they apparently take Cash App too, so plan ahead before you show up. There’s no card reader waiting to save you at the counter, so I’d bring bills to be safe, and maybe a little extra, because it’s hard to leave with just one.
Go early. Arundel often sells out, and with hours running 5:30 to 11:30am Tuesday through Sunday, the window’s already pretty short. If you roll up late morning on a weekend, don’t be shocked if your favorites are gone. They’re closed Mondays too, so keep that in mind.
Parking’s pretty easy. There’s a small lot right at the shop, and if it happens to be full when you get there, you can grab a spot at the McDonald’s next door and walk over. It’s a quick in-and-out kind of place, so I’ve never had much trouble.

What Makes Arundel Donuts Worth the Early Alarm
The donuts are fantastic, but I’ll be honest, the service is what makes this place stick with me. The baked goods are terrific and the people running it are even better, warm and genuinely kind in a way you don’t always get on a busy morning. That’s the whole difference between a shop you visit once and one you keep circling back to, and it’s why I’d point a Nomster here over a slicker spot with colder service any day.
It all adds up to a low-stress morning stop. You pull into the little lot, walk into a small, unfussy shop, get treated well, and leave with a box of donuts that actually taste like they were made that morning, because they were. No frills, no line out the door on a weekday, just a really solid neighborhood donut run. That’s exactly what I want out of a local spot, and it’s the kind of place I hope sticks around Glen Burnie for a long time.

Arundel Donuts is one of my favorite donut spots in Maryland, and the reason isn’t just the apple fritter (though it’s great). It’s that the people running it are so welcoming and kind that the whole stop feels better than the sum of its parts. Have you guys been to this gem yet?!
