Bayside Skillet: One of the BEST Breakfast Spots in Ocean City

October 15, 2026

I’d been hearing about Bayside Skillet for ages before I finally made it down to Ocean City, and WOW, this one actually lives up to the hype. It sits right on the bay at 77th Street, and the second you walk in you get why people are obsessed. The vibes were on point, the service was standout, and the food was fantastic across the board.

My favorite was the Hotlanta Chicken and Crepes, hand breaded tenders wrapped in warm crepes with a house strawberry jalapeno jam I’m obsessed with. It’s a breakfast-only spot that leans all the way into crepes and omelettes instead of the usual pancakes-and-eggs routine, and that’s exactly why it stands out. If you’re spending a morning down the ocean and want a proper sit-down breakfast, this is the one, Nomsters.

What Makes Bayside Skillet So Special?

Bayside Skillet bills itself as “The Crepe and Omelette Place,” and that’s not just a cute tagline, it’s the whole personality. This is a family-owned spot that’s been serving Ocean City since 1977, and the menu’s built around three things they do really well: crepes, omelettes, and loaded potato skillets.

You won’t find a stack of pancakes or a waffle here, and I kind of love that they just commit to their lane. The setting’s a big part of the draw too, sitting right on the bay with a huge deck, and they’ve racked up an Ocean City Beauty Spot Award plus a TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice nod over the years. Add in one of the most dog-friendly patios I’ve seen, and it’s an easy spot to see why it’s stayed a local favorite for almost 50 years.

What to Order at Bayside Skillet

Deke and I came hungry and worked our way across a few dishes, and the portions here are no joke. Here’s everything we got into, plus what I’d build your order around.

Hotlanta Chicken and Crepes ($17.95)

This was my favorite dish of the morning, and I wasn’t even sure how I’d feel about it going in. It’s hand breaded chicken tenders wrapped up in warm crepes, topped with a house strawberry jalapeno jam and a dusting of powdered sugar. I give it an honest 11/10. The chicken’s cooked perfectly and I loved how crispy it was, and that strawberry jalapeno jam is genuinely brilliant, tying it all together so beautifully. If you only order one thing here, make it this!

Special Omelette ($15.25)

The Special Omelette is a HUGE one stuffed with mushrooms, scallions, and Swiss cheese, and it was very tasty and loaded with goodness. Here’s the fun part most people don’t expect: most of their omelettes come with a warm crepe on the side, topped with butter and strawberry preserves, so you basically get a little dessert built into your savory plate! It’s a great pick if you want something classic while everyone else goes wild on the sweet crepes.

“Dirty” Banana Royale ($15.95)

If you’ve got a sweet tooth, this one’s a whole production. Bananas stuffed inside warm crepes, then topped with caramelized banana butter, creme Chantilly, toasted almonds, melted Wilbur chocolate, and fresh strawberries. It’s definitely on the sweeter side, as you can probably tell, lol, and the portions are so big that Deke and I barely made a dent after our mains. It worked, but there was a LOT going on, so next time I’d go with something a little simpler for dessert. Still fun to split if you’re in a group.

A few more things worth knowing when you’re scanning the menu:

  • They do a deep lineup of fresh fruit crepes (strawberry, blueberry, Dutch apple) plus savory options like seafood crepes and spinach and bacon.
  • The omelettes run from veggie-packed to a lump crab and cheese version, very fitting for a Maryland morning.
  • Loaded potato skillets are the third pillar if you want something heartier.
  • Coffee’s $4 a cup, and they even let us take a to-go cup on the way out at no extra charge.

Is Bayside Skillet Dog Friendly?

YES, and they go all in on it. They’ve got a heated covered deck with at least 14 pet-friendly seats, so you can bring your pup even when it’s a little chilly out. And when the weather warms up and the big sun deck opens, there are 150-plus pet-friendly seats out there soaking up the bay views.

It’s honestly one of the most dog-welcoming breakfast spots I’ve come across, so if you’re traveling with a four-legged Nomster, this is a no-brainer! Just note the deck seating fills up fast on pretty mornings.

The Vibe and Experience

The whole place has an easygoing, on-vacation feel to it, with that big bayfront deck as the main event. Service was a real highlight, friendly and on top of everything. It’s a great fit for a family breakfast, a group splitting a bunch of plates, or a lazy morning with your dog before you hit the beach. They’re open all year round (closed only on Christmas), so it’s not just a summer thing, and the bay setting is a bonus any time of year.

Easy yes. It’s absolutely worth it when you’re down the shore. If you’re building a whole Ocean City food day, swing by Fractured Prune for their made-to-order donuts while you’re in town.
