Okay Nomsters, this one’s for my cat people. I finally checked out Affogatto in Fells Point, and it’s Baltimore’s only cat cafe, so of course I had to put you on. Here’s the deal: it’s part coffee shop, part cat lounge. You can pop in for local coffee, tea, and snacks anytime, or book a session to hang out with their adorable adoptable kitties.
The cat lounge is $10 per person for 25 minutes, and you reserve your spot online. The space is honestly too cute, and the best part’s the mission behind it, all the cats are rescues looking for homes, and more than 120 of them have already been adopted. A coffee, a cuddle with a kitten, and a good cause all in one? Yes please! Let me tell you everything you need to know before you go.

What Makes Affogatto a Standout Cat Cafe in Baltimore
For starters, it’s the only cat cafe in Baltimore, so it’s already one of a kind. But what really makes it special is the heart behind it. The cats here are rescues pulled from shelters that are near or over capacity, and the whole setup’s built to get them adopted.
That $10 lounge fee isn’t just for playtime either, it goes toward the cats’ vet care, the staff, and donations back to the shelters, so you’re literally supporting the cause just by showing up. The founder was inspired by the cat cafes he fell in love with while studying in Japan, and you can feel that thoughtfulness in every corner. Cute cats, great coffee, and a genuine mission? That’s a winning combo in my book!

What to Expect at Affogatto
Here’s how it all works so you know what you’re walking into.
The Cat Lounge ($10 for 25 minutes)
This is the main event. You book a 25-minute session online, and they keep it to 6 guests at a time (ages 3 and up) for the comfort of the kitties. That means it never feels crowded or chaotic, just you, a few other cat lovers, and a room full of adorable, adoptable cats to hang out with. Book ahead, especially on weekends, because these sessions fill up.
The Cafe
You don’t actually need a lounge booking to stop in, the cafe side’s open to walk-ins. They pour espresso using Baltimore’s own Black Acres Roastery, and yes, they make a proper affogato (it’s in the name) with Taharka Brothers ice cream. There’s tea from Wight Tea Co., plus pastries and baked goods from Ovenbird and some sandwiches too. It’s a genuinely lovely little cafe even before you factor in the cats.
If those baked goods have you curious, Ovenbird Bakery is a full sit-down spot in Little Italy worth the short trip over, known for their lox bagel, almond croissant, and Baltimore Sourdough.
The Cats (and Maybe Taking One Home)
The whole point here is adoption. Every cat in the lounge is a rescue looking for a forever home, and more than 120 have already found one. So if you fall in love during your session, you might just leave with a new best friend. Even if you’re not ready to adopt, your visit’s helping them, which feels really good.

A Cause You Can Feel Good About
I have to gush about the mission for a sec, because it’s my favorite thing about this place. Seeing so many cats find homes is SO amazing, and every single visit helps keep that going! Instead of your money just buying a latte, it’s funding vet care and supporting the shelters these cats come from. The founder built this whole concept after falling for the cat cafes of Japan, and turned it into something that actually gives back to the community. Coming here feels less like a splurge and more like doing a small good thing, which I’m always here for.
How Does a Cat Cafe Work?
If you’ve never been to a cat cafe, here’s the gist. It’s two spaces in one: a regular cafe where you grab coffee and snacks, and a separate lounge where cats roam free and you hang out with them. The two are kept apart for the cats’ health and comfort, so you book a timed session for the lounge while the cafe stays open for anyone. At Affogatto, you reserve your 25 minutes online, then spend it with the kitties. Simple, low-key, and kind of therapeutic.
The Vibe and Experience
The space itself’s a whole mood. Think a fun, retro Italian-Mediterranean look with pops of orange, a few disco balls, and cat books you can actually buy. There’s even a playful John Waters-themed bathroom, which is such a Baltimore touch. It sits right in the heart of Fells Point, so it’s easy to pair with a walk around the neighborhood. It’s great for a chill date, a family outing (kids 3 and up), or a solo reset when you need some kitten therapy.
If you’re planning a full Fells Point outing, Little Donna’s is the perfect dinner stop, a classic tavern pizza spot right in the neighborhood with a vibe that feels made for a night like this.
