I’m SO excited to put Pipilinka on your radar! If you’re anywhere near Ellicott City and you love Peruvian chicken, this mom-and-pop shop needs to be your next stop. The charcoal chicken is the star, beautifully seasoned, ridiculously juicy, and halal, and it comes with some of the best housemade aji sauces I’ve had.
I wanted something healthy-ish, so I went with one of their chicken sets, a whole bird with three big sides and four sauces, and I basically could not stop eating. The chaufa (their Peruvian fried rice) alone had me ready to move in. Pipilinka’s a family-owned spot with a lot of heart, exactly the kind of under-the-radar gem I love to shout out. If you’ve never had Peruvian charcoal chicken, consider this your sign.

What Makes Pipilinka a Standout Peruvian Spot in Ellicott City
What makes Pipilinka special starts with how they cook the chicken. They roast it over natural charcoal in an oven they actually imported from Peru, low and slow, which is what gives pollo a la brasa that smoky, crispy-skinned, juicy-inside magic.
It’s run by a husband-and-wife team, and the name Pipilinka is a little love letter to their roots, a fusion of Peru and El Salvador, so you’ll spot Salvadoran touches like pupusas on the menu too. On top of that, the chicken’s halal, which makes it a real go-to in Howard County. If you’re into local Latin spots, El Sopon’s food truck over in Elkridge is another one I’d point you to. For charcoal chicken specifically, though, Pipilinka’s in a league of its own.

What to Order at Pipilinka
Here’s exactly what I got and what I’d order again.
The Charcoal Chicken Set ($32.99)
This is the way to go. For $32.99 you get a whole chicken, three large sides, and four housemade sauces (the current menu price is around $36, so worth a quick check before you go). The chicken was seasoned beautifully and very, VERY juicy, honestly outstanding on its own. But the sauces are what took it to the next level. There are two you have to get, the spicy yellow and the spicy green aji. The green’s got more of a kick, but I genuinely couldn’t pick a favorite, I wanted to buy both in bulk!
Chaufa (Peruvian Fried Rice)
Easily the best Peruvian chicken fried rice I’ve had in a minute. It’s super flavorful, and I had a real hard time not finishing the whole container in one sitting, lol. If you only add one side, make it this.
Fried Yucca
The fried yucca was great, freshly fried with a crispy exterior, and it’s perfect for dragging through those aji sauces. The baked plantains were yum but nothing too out of the ordinary, so chaufa and yucca are my top two sides. Pro tip: ask for some pickled onions on the side.
They don’t cost extra, and the acidity and crunch really round out the whole plate. Beyond the chicken, the menu runs to Peruvian classics like lomo saltado and ceviche, plus empanadas and those Salvadoran pupusas if you want to branch out.

What Is Pollo a la Brasa?
If you haven’t had it before, pollo a la brasa is Peruvian rotisserie chicken. The bird gets marinated in a blend of spices, then roasted over charcoal until the skin crisps up and the meat stays juicy. It’s a staple all over Peru, usually served with fries, rice, or salad and a lineup of punchy dipping sauces. At Pipilinka, those aji sauces are the move, so do not skip them.
The Vibe and Experience
Pipilinka’s very much a fast-casual spot. There are a few tables inside if you want to eat there, but a lot of people grab and go, and there’s plenty of parking, which is always a win. It’s low-key and friendly, the kind of family-run place where the food does the talking. Between the halal chicken and the vegan-friendly sides like black beans and veggies, it’s easy to feed a mixed group here. If you’re exploring more Latin food around Howard County, Celia’s Cuban over in Columbia is another newer spot worth a visit.
