If you’re looking for good eats in PG County, you need to check out Sunnybrook Tavern in Fort Washington. It’s one of those classic neighborhood gems that does a little bit of everything – think bar vibes, a liquor store, and a grill all under one roof.
The vibe was honestly my favorite part. There were a ton of regulars, everyone was super friendly, and it felt like the kind of place where the staff actually knows people by name. Also… I thought I kept my receipt, but I definitely lost it, so I don’t have pricing info for you guys today. Sorrrrrryyyyyy.
Deke and I weren’t super hungry, so we kept it simple and shared a few things. Our bartender recommended the wings, so of course we listened – and yep, they were good. We also grabbed a turkey club and mozzarella sticks to round things out.

We didn’t stay for drinks this time, but I keep hearing their pours are strong, and that weekends can get pretty lively. If you’re looking for a spot with good energy and a local crowd, this one definitely fits the bill. Overall: solid food and solid service – exactly what you want from a neighborhood spot like this. Tell me your favorite dive bars below, Nomsters!
And if you’re sticking around Fort Washington after, Hovermale’s is a walk-up soft serve stand that’s been going since 1954, and their chocolate dip is the best I’ve ever had.
