I finally got to scratch Yu Noodles off my foodie bucket list! My mom and I went for lunch today, and we had a wonderful time. Here’s everything we got:
- Pan Fried Chive & Pork Dumplings ($8): these dumplings were pretty awesome! The flavors were on point, and the filling was nice and juicy. Next time, I definitely want to try their steamed version.
- Rainbow Combo Soup Dumplings ($13.50): NGL, I’m picky when it comes to soup dumplings, but the ones at Yu Noodles were delish. We wanted to try all 3 flavors so we got the rainbow combo. I wished there was a bit more broth, but they were still pretty dang good. The shrimp & pork one was my favorite!
- Chongqing Noodles ($9): I thought this was affordable at $9 considering the portion size! It doesn’t come with any meat, but you can add whatever you like. It had peanuts (yum!), bok choy, and a fried egg. I was expecting a major spice explosion, but it wasn’t as hot as I thought it’d be. Lucky for me, they had chili oil on the table, so I went HAM with it.
- Noodle in Scallion Oil with Chicken ($11): My mom wasn’t in the mood for spice, so our server recommended this bowl. It had shredded carrots, cukes, edamame, and chicken. It was a solid dish but needed more flavor. Adding a few spoonfuls of their housemade chili oil did WONDERS though.
Additional notes for you all:
- Street parking is a challenge, but there’s a parking lot right across the street
- The service here is quick and friendly. And they’re all about sharing recommendations so don’t be shy.
- They’ve got four more locations in the DMV area (Rockville included)
- Plus, Yu Noodles isn’t just about noodles and dumplings. They’ve got a bunch of other enticing dishes waiting for you to explore. I heard their mango sago is absolutely yum, so that’s definitely on my hit list for next time.

Speaking of Silver Spring finds, Morning My Day is a family-run Japanese bakery downtown doing purple yam flower buns, black sesame mochi bread, and boba from scratch, and it’s absolutely worth adding to your list. And if you’re staying out into the evening, Quarry House Tavern is the basement dive bar Silver Spring locals have loved for years, with a massive whisky list, bar bites like cheese curds and wings, and live music on the regular.
