I’m SO excited to tell you guys about my favorite bites from January! It was definitely a delicious month, lol. To kick things off, we’re starting with a wonderful mom and pop shop in Reisterstown.
1. El Paraiso’s Crab Pupusas
Chef Marvin was kind enough to give me a sneak peek of his new crab pupusas, and trust me when I say you guys need to try these STAT! They’re stuffed with crab dip style noms and a TON of crab meat. They’re priced at $11.99 (worth the $ in case you were wondering) and served with honey sriracha slaw. The combo’s so good – I promise it’ll be love at first bite.

2. Ekiben’s Pho Spiced Cheesesteak Egg Roll
Ekiben’s basically a national treasure, so if you haven’t visited yet you need to go ASAP, lol. Their Neighborhood Bird Bun’s one of my favorite eats of all time, BUT I recently tried their pho spiced cheesesteak egg roll, and it low key changed my life. This deliciousness is stuffed with beef, cheese (SO SO MUCH CHEESE), pho spices, and topped with chipotle mayo and cabbage slaw. Unbelievably tasty. 100/10.
📍911 West 36th Street, Baltimore
⏰M-Th 11am-3:30pm + 4:30-10pm, Fr & Sa 11-3:30pm, 4:30-11pm
3. Koma Cafe’s Rigatoni
A new-ish spot in Takoma Park, Koma Cafe’s known for their fantastic Italian food. You can’t go wrong with any of their pastas, but their rigatoni was my personal favorite. Served with prosciutto bolognese, burrata and chili flakes, this bowl was the epitome of comfort. Definitely make sure you get shareables to start, too. Their judion beans and pickled mushrooms were nothing short of incredible. Like Deke and I both couldn’t stop eating them even though we were trying not to fill up, lol.
📍8006 Flower Avenue, Takoma Park
⏰7am-10pm daily
4. Uber Bagels and Deli
My first time trying Uber Bagels and Deli, and let me tell you, their bagels reallllly lived up to the hype. I got various different flavors, and everything I had was yummy. My favorite was their cinnamon sugar with honey walnut cream cheese and their egg with scallion cream cheese. There was just something so special about their texture, and I can’t wait to go back. Definitely taking Deke next time as well since he’s a bagel fiend!
📍147 Governor Ritchie Highway, Severna Park
⏰M-Sa 6:30am–2:30pm, Su 7am–2pm
5. El Pollo Rico’s Family Meal
Def my new favorite spot for Peruvian chicken. Their family meal was such a great deal, and I loved everything we got. You get a whole chicken, 3 large sides and 8 sauces for $26 ($27 if you want all white meat). The chicken was so juicy and delicious, and the sauces that came with complemented the meat so beautifully (the green packs a PUNCH)! The coleslaw was mayo heavy, but I love mayo so that was a win for me, and the beans were good, too.
