If You Haven’t Been to Toi Moi Bakery Yet, RUN, Don’t Walk
Consider this your official sign to visit ASAP I’m not exaggerating when I say Annie, the owner and creative force behind Toi Moi, consistently puts out some of the most inventive pastries I’ve ever had. Every pop-up somehow tops the last, and this visit was no exception.
I caught her at Union Market DC on a Sunday, and everything I tried was thoughtfully executed and super memorable.
What I Tried at Toi Moi Bakery
- Dubai Chocolate Strawberry Croissant ($8): This was hands down my favorite pastry of the bunch. A buttery croissant filled with rich chocolate cream, layered with Dubai-style pistachio kataifi crunch, finished with fresh strawberries and a pistachio drizzle. The textures here were unreal — crispy, creamy, flaky, and fresh all at once. SO good.
- Ube Supreme Croissant ($10): A very close second favorite. This one is a must-try for ube lovers — deeply flavorful without being overly sweet, and incredibly indulgent. Bonus: they also offer this in matcha, which I already know I’ll be back for.
- Cube Croissant ($12): I tried the pistachio strawberry version, but they rotate flavors. This one surprised me in the best way — the flavors were more subtle and elegant, with delicate floral notes that made it feel refined rather than heavy.
- Mango Sticky Rice Croissant ($8): One of the most unique baked goods I’ve seen in a minute. This croissant is filled with a mango passionfruit custard, coconut-infused sticky rice, and fresh mango. It’s playful, creative, and somehow still perfectly balanced. Truly a standout concept.
- Cookie Croissant ($8): A classic-meets-chaos situation in the best way possible. Buttery, flaky croissant dough stuffed with gooey cookie dough and topped with even more cookie dough. Crispy edges, soft center, zero regrets.
Toi Moi Bakery operates primarily as a pop-up, so locations and availability vary week to week. I highly recommend following their Instagram to stay up to date on where they’ll be next. Also – and this is important – they sell out fast. If you want the best selection, go early.
I can’t recommend Annie’s baked goods enough. Every pastry feels intentional, creative, and made with so much care. Thank you again for hosting me – everything was amazing as always.
