Nomsters, I’ve been really, reallllly stressed lately, so I finally splurged and booked myself a spa day. This was my first time at The Spa at Turf Valley in Ellicott City, and I picked it because the pricing felt genuinely reasonable for what you get, three hour-long treatments plus champagne and a little dessert, when so many places charge $190 and up for a single service.
Overall, it was a really good experience. The staff was lovely, the facilities were spotless, and the Vichy shower (more on that below) was the standout. It’s a full-on make-a-day-of-it kind of spot, tucked inside the Turf Valley Resort, so if you’re due for some serious self-care in Howard County, let me walk you through what to expect.

A Closer Look at The Spa at Turf Valley
The Spa at Turf Valley sits inside the Turf Valley Resort, so it’s less a quick in-and-out treatment room and more a whole relaxation campus you can settle into for the afternoon. What sold me was the value math. Instead of paying $190-plus for one treatment somewhere else, their day packages bundle a few hour-long services together with champagne and dessert for one set price, and you get run of the amenities on top of that.
That means a sauna, a hot tub, indoor and outdoor pools, and a quiet relaxation lounge where you can linger as long as you like between treatments. And then there’s the Vichy shower, which I’d never tried before and which turned out to be the most memorable part of the whole day. For making an actual event out of self-care, that combination is hard to beat around here.
What to Book at The Spa at Turf Valley
Here’s how I’d think about booking, whether you want the full day or just one treatment.
The Spa Day Package (around $385, plus tip)
This is what I did, and it’s the move if you want to make a day of it. You get three hour-long treatments (mine was a massage, a body treatment, and a facial), plus champagne and dessert, and access to all the amenities. It lines up with their Classic Collection package, which runs around $385 before gratuity, so with tip my total landed at $462. That’s a splurge, no way around it, but for a full afternoon of treatments plus the pool, sauna, and lounge, it felt fair for what the day actually was.

The Vichy Shower Body Treatment
If you book only one thing, make it something with the Vichy shower. It was hands down the most interesting part of my visit (I break down exactly what it is below). It’s built into their body-treatment room, so booking a body polish or wrap is how you get to experience it. If you’ve never done one, it’s a great reason to book here in particular.
Individual Massages and Facials
If a single, knockout treatment is really what you’re after, I’d seriously consider booking a la carte instead of the package. I’ve had better one-off treatments elsewhere, and I’ll be shouting out my favorite masseuse in a future post, so the individual services here were good rather than mind-blowing for me.
They offer the classics, Swedish, deep tissue, and Himalayan salt stone massages, organic facials, and a whole menu of body wraps and scrubs (most run about $130 to $155). The package is about the full experience and the amenities.

What Is a Vichy Shower?
So what actually is a Vichy shower? It’s a hydrotherapy treatment where you lie face-up on a cushioned wet table while a row of five to seven shower heads mounted on a bar above you rain warm water over your whole body at once. It’s often used to rinse off a body scrub or wrap, and the effect lands somewhere between a warm rain and a gentle hydro-massage.
The name comes from Vichy, France, a town famous for its mineral springs. I think they might be the only spa in the area that has one, so if you’ve never experienced it, that alone is a genuinely cool reason to book here!
The Vibe and Experience
The whole vibe here is calm resort escape, not trendy day spa. Everyone I dealt with was really nice, and the facilities were extremely clean, which honestly matters more to me at a spa than almost anything else. Between treatments you can post up in the relaxation lounge for as long as you want, and you’ve got the sauna, hot tub, and pools to drift between.
It’s the kind of place you go to actually unplug for a few hours rather than rush through a single appointment. Bring a book, plan to stay a while, and let yourself genuinely slow down.

Is The Spa at Turf Valley Worth The Splurge?
If you want a full self-care day, the package plus the amenities + Vichy shower made for a really good reset! Just go in knowing it’s a splurge (my day ran $462 with tip) and that the magic is in the whole experience more than any single treatment. I probably won’t drop that much on services super often, but I’m really glad I took the day for myself. If you’re building a little self-care rotation, Even Keel Wellness Spa over in Columbia is another Howard County spot I’ve tried and loved.
Have you guys treated yourself to a spa day lately, Nomsters? If you’ve been to Turf Valley, tell me which treatment you’d book in the comments, and if you’re on a self-care kick, a luxury head spa like Yuki in Pasadena is a totally different kind of pampering worth adding to the list. Now go book yourself something nice, you deserve it!
