Terra Gaucha: A Brazilian Steakhouse Worth the Splurge

March 5, 2026

I recently treated my parents to dinner at Terra Gaucha Rockville, and honestly, it had been way too long since we’d hit up a proper churrascaria. The second I mentioned Brazilian steakhouse, they were SO in. I made reservations ahead of time (highly recommend, btw), and good thing I did because this place was absolutely packed when we arrived.

Quick heads up before I get into the food: I used my Dine Around Maryland membership to score 50% off our meal, which made the experience even better. If you’re not familiar with the program, it’s basically a restaurant membership that gets you discounts at tons of spots around Maryland. Definitely worth looking into if you love eating out as much as I do, lol.

What Makes Terra Gaucha Rockville Stand Out

Terra Gaucha Rockville is a full-on rodizio-style Brazilian steakhouse, which means unlimited fire-roasted meats carved tableside by gaucho chefs. The space is HUGE (we’re talking 7,000 square feet), and it feels upscale without being stuffy or intimidating. If you’ve been following along with my 10 Must Try Restaurants in Rockville, Maryland adventures, you know this area has become such a solid dining destination lately.

What really sets this churrascaria apart is the quality of their meats and that amazing hot and cold buffet table. They’re not cutting corners here, and you can tell from the first bite.

What to Order at Terra Gaucha Rockville

Okay, so here’s how it works if you’ve never been to a Brazilian steakhouse before. You get this little coaster at your table with a green side and a red side. Flip it to green when you want the gauchos to bring meat to your table, red when you need a breather. Trust me, you’ll need those breaks, lol.

For dinner, the Full Churrasco Experience is $59.95 and includes unlimited access to the gourmet buffet plus all the tableside meats. They also offer a Chicken & Seafood option for $44.95 if you’re not feeling the red meat vibes, or just the Gourmet Hot and Cold Table for $29.95. Lunch prices are more affordable (Full Churrasco is $39.95 Monday through Friday), and weekend brunch runs $49.95 for the full experience.

The Gourmet Hot and Cold Table

Before any meat even hits your table, you NEED to visit their buffet. I’m talking imported cheeses, every kind of pickled veggie you can imagine, fresh salads, charcuterie, Brazilian sides, the works. I loaded up my plate with a colorful mix because I wanted to pace myself (spoiler: that didn’t last long). The variety is honestly impressive. They’ve got everything from caprese salad to hearts of palm to roasted vegetables. It’s a whole meal on its own, but save room because the real show is about to start.

Filet Mignon with Bacon

This was hands down one of my favorite cuts of the night. The filet comes wrapped in bacon (because of course it does), and it’s SO tender and juicy. The seasoning is simple but perfect, just letting that quality beef shine through. Our server carved it fresh at the table, and I definitely went back for seconds… and thirds.

Beef Ribs (Costela)

Oh my GOD, these beef ribs. They were fall-off-the-bone tender, with this beautiful char on the outside and the most incredible beefy flavor. Honestly one of the best things I ate all night. If you see the gaucho coming around with these, flip that coaster to green immediately.

Lamb Sirloin and Lamb Chops

I’m a huge lamb fan, so I was excited to try both their lamb options. The lamb sirloin had this perfect slightly gamey flavor without being overpowering, and it was cooked to a beautiful medium-rare. The lamb chops were equally amazing – tender, flavorful, with just the right amount of fat for that rich taste. If you’re on the fence about lamb, Terra Gaucha might just convert you.

Garlic Shrimp

Even though this is primarily a steakhouse, their garlic shrimp were ridiculously good. Plump, perfectly seasoned with tons of garlic (as it should be), and a nice break from all the red meat. They’re not just an afterthought here.

Grilled Pineapple

OKAY so this is technically a side/palate cleanser situation, but you need to get this. They bring around grilled pineapple dusted with cinnamon and sugar, and it’s absolutely crave-worthy. Sweet, caramelized, with that perfect balance of tart pineapple flavor underneath. I kept waving the gaucho back over every time I saw him with that tray.

Pão de Queijo (Brazilian Cheese Bread)

The servers bring warm pão de queijo to your table, and it’s basically impossible not to demolish the entire basket. The texture is unreal – crispy on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside, with this amazing cheesy flavor throughout. I had to physically stop myself from eating more because I knew I needed to save room, lol.

Crispy Polenta

Another tableside side that I absolutely loved. The polenta is fried until it’s golden and crispy on the outside but still creamy inside. It’s the perfect starchy companion to all that meat, and the crispy texture is SO satisfying.

The Vibe at Terra Gaucha Rockville

The atmosphere at Terra Gaucha hits that sweet spot between upscale and comfortable. The service was incredibly attentive without being overbearing. Our server checked in regularly, made great recommendations, and the gauchos were super friendly and patient while explaining each cut.

This spot is perfect for celebrating something special (birthdays, anniversaries, promotions), but it also works great for a nice family dinner or even business meetings. They have three private dining rooms if you’re planning a bigger event. The energy is lively without being too loud, which I really appreciated. And if you’re exploring more of the Rockville dining scene, you might also want to check out Kuya Ja’s Lechon for incredible Filipino food that’s equally worth celebrating.

Would I Go Back to Terra Gaucha Rockville?

Absolutely, yes. The quality of the meat was excellent, the buffet exceeded my expectations, and the overall experience felt special without being pretentious. My parents had an amazing time (always a win), and we all left completely stuffed and happy.
