Alright SO, Deke and I have pretty much opposite schedules so we always try to maximize our time together. We love trying new places and exploring different areas so we decided to check out some new (…and some old =P) spots in Takoma Park.
Lunch @ Soko Butcher
Start your day off with lunch at Soko Butcher. Honestly, I am such a fan of their sandwiches. They’re easily one of my favorite places in the DMV, and you can’t go wrong with anything you get. My current go-to is their Roseda Roast, and it’s made with roast beef, provolone, caramelized onions, arugula, and horseradish aioli on a potato bun. Pro tip: ask for it warm!
📍7306 Carroll Ave, Takoma Park
Happy Hour @ Takoma Bev Co
After lunch at Soko, head to Takoma Bev Co for drinks! TBH, we were stuffed from our meal so we didn’t get any food, but they have a nice selection there, and the drinks are crushable. I also love that they offer happy hour from 3-6pm daily so that’s another plus. Definitely a nice place to go with friends!
📍6917 Laurel Ave, Takoma Park
Dessert @ Gusto Gelateria
This was highly recommended by friends so we went for second dessert after cocktails. You order at their window, and there’s plenty of seating nearby to enjoy your noms. Deke got mint chip, and I got chocolate. Their gelato had a beautiful texture to it, and it really was the perfect end to a perfect day.
📍7000 Carroll Ave, Takoma Park
Where are some of your favorite spots in Takoma Park? Let me know by leaving a comment below, Nomsters! I always love hearing from you guys. And FYI, we were supposed to go to the Farmers Market before lunch, but we didn’t get there in time, [insert sad face]. That and Donut Run is on my list so I’ll be heading back ASAP!
If you’re building a full day out in this corner of Montgomery County, Glenstone in Potomac is about 20 minutes away, a free modern art museum on 230 acres with outdoor sculptures and pavilions that’s one of the most stunning free experiences in the DMV.
