I’d driven past Sweet Eden Bakeshop way too many times, so I finally caved, walked in, and indulged. Nomsters, I’m so glad I did, because the baked goods here were absolutely delish! Sweet Eden’s a Black-owned, woman-owned bakeshop tucked into Severn, and it’s one of those from-scratch spots where you can taste the difference the second you bite in.
I went a little feral and grabbed a whole haul: four cupcakes, a cookie, a couple of cake pops, and one of their specialty pastries. Some things were absolute standouts and one or two were just okay, which is exactly the kind of honest breakdown I’d want, so that’s what you’re getting. If you’re anywhere near Severn or coming off a day at Arundel Mills, this is a sweet little detour worth making, especially if you’ve got a birthday, a party, or a serious sugar craving to feed.

What Makes Sweet Eden Bakeshop Special?
The thing that sets Sweet Eden apart is that everything’s made from scratch, with no boxed mixes and no preservatives, by owner and pastry chef Kendra Eden. She’s a Johnson & Wales-trained baker who spent years in a big resort pastry kitchen before opening her own shop in Severn, and that training shows in the details.
They’re best known for their gorgeous custom cakes, but the everyday case is stacked too: cupcakes, cake pops, French macarons, mini Bundts, pies, muffins, cheesecakes and more, with a real rotation of monthly flavors. There’s also a solid lineup of gluten-free and vegan options, which is not a given at a small bakery, so more people get to actually enjoy the spread.
What to Order at Sweet Eden Bakeshop
Here’s everything I got, ranked by how fast I’d reorder it.
Cake Pops ($2.75 each)
These were EXCEPTIONAL and the clear winner of my haul! I got birthday cake and red velvet, and both were so tasty. I already want to work through the rest of their flavors. Start here!

Cupcakes ($3.75 each)
I grabbed four: snickerdoodle, red velvet, strawberry crunch, and eggnog, which was the featured flavor of the month. The eggnog was my favorite by a mile, it REALLY tasted like the real deal (lol, in the best way), and the snickerdoodle was a close second. If they’ve got a seasonal flavor up when you go, get it, because they clearly have fun with the rotating menu.
Snickerdoodle Cookie ($3)
Definitely a solid cookie, but honestly not my favorite thing out of everything I grabbed. It’s a fine pick if you want something simple, I’d just point you to the cake pops or a cupcake first.
The “Big Mac” ($7.50)
This is their Nutella-raspberry flavored specialty pastry, and it’s gluten free. It wasn’t for me personally, but I can totally see other people loving it, so if you enjoy a fruit filling, it’s worth a try. Not everything has to be a home run, and I’d rather tell you the truth.
Meet the Baker Behind Sweet Eden
Part of why I love putting spots like this on your radar is the person behind the counter. Kendra Eden opened Sweet Eden in 2019 after earning her degree in Baking and Pastry Arts and working in a large resort pastry kitchen, and she’s built a true from-scratch bakeshop worth seeking out. It’s a Black-owned and woman-owned small business making everything by hand, and supporting it feels as good as the sugar rush. You can read more of her story over on Visit Annapolis.

The Vibe and Experience
Sweet Eden’s an easy pop-in-and-browse kind of bakeshop, so you can grab what you want and get on with your day, and you can also order ahead online or set up a custom cake consultation. A couple of perks worth knowing: they run a loyalty program that gets you $2.50 off your first purchase, and they offer a 10% military discount on orders of $25 or more, which is a genuinely nice touch. It’s a quick drive from Arundel Mills, so it slots perfectly into a shopping or errands day.

Is Sweet Eden Bakeshop Worth A Trip?
Short answer, yes, especially for cake pops, cupcakes and custom cakes. It’s not going to be every single item for every single person (my Big Mac verdict stands), but the hits are really good and the from-scratch quality is obvious. For a Severn sweet fix or a celebration cake, this is a lovely local pick, and if you’re chasing dessert around Anne Arundel, pair it with donuts from Carlson’s down the road.
Have you guys been to Sweet Eden yet? Tell me your favorite flavor in the comments, Nomsters, and if you’re planning a party, save this and send it to whoever’s on cake duty. Craving more sweets? Lil Cakes’ & Creamery in Hanover is another sweet Anne Arundel spot worth a look.
