If you love sweets as much as I do, you’re in for a treat =) I recently checked out a new-ish dessert spot in Old Ellicott City, and it was sublime. The place is called Sugar Plum Tea & Pastry, and I’m low key obsessed – in addition to yum treats, their aesthetic is so cute.
If you’re craving something a little different nearby, Soft Stuff Ice Cream serves falooda and bubble waffle soft serve just up the road in Ellicott City.
If you’re in the mood for a coffee and a cute vibe while you’re in the area, Cube Coffee Ellicott City is a new halal cafe that brings the aesthetic energy and some seriously creative drinks.
Here’s everything I tried…
1️⃣ Taro Blizzard Cakes (3 for $9.95): These cakes are made in-house and are absolutely delicious! The texture is soft, almost cloud-like, and the taro flavor is divine. It’s not overly sweet, which I personally loved. Hiiiiighly recommend.
2️⃣ Chocolate Mille Crepe Cake ($8.95): Also made in-house, this cake is a must. I actually liked it better than the Lady M slices I’ve tried in the past. They offer two other flavors as well, and the slice I got was generous.
3️⃣ Sacher Torte ($6.95): This dessert is from one of their partners in Rockville (aka Teamania), and it’s a chocolate lover’s dream. Rich and decadent, it’s a must-try for anyone who loves deep chocolatey goodness. Probably my favorite dessert out of the bunch, but everything was legit good!
4️⃣ Sugar Plum Milk Tea ($6 + boba for 75 cents extra): SO, this is kind of my fault, but I thought this was too sweet. I think I would’ve liked it if I asked for little to no sugar. Remember, the boba itself adds sweetness, so keep that in mind when customizing your order. I did enjoy the texture of the boba – they make it in house, and it’s nice and chewy.
5️⃣ Vietnamese Coffee ($5.25): I didn’t try this, but my friend Minje loved this drink!
Additional Notes
- The owners are friendly and provide warm and welcoming service.
- If you’re in the mood for something savory, I hear great things about their pork buns
- Don’t limit yourself to just boba drinks! They offer an array of options, including fruity yogurt drinks, fruit tea, slashes, smoothies, sparkling drinks, and oh so much more.
- The boba toppings here are unique. You can try lychee popping boba, rainbow jelly, matcha paste, etc. for an extra burst of flavor.
