Spooky Solomons Ghost Tour: A Perfect Day on the Island

August 2, 2026

Okay Nomsters, real talk: I do NOT do well with ghost stories, and I still let a stranger walk me around a spooky little island in the dark, lol. That’s how our perfect day in Solomons ended, on the Spooky Solomons ghost tour, and I’m not kidding when I say we slept with the lights on the whole trip.

Adam, the guy who runs the tour, is such a good storyteller that he got completely in my head. Solomons Island’s this charming waterfront town in southern Maryland where the Patuxent River meets the Chesapeake, and it turned out to be the perfect mix of cute daytime stuff and a genuinely creepy night. If you’re looking for a fun day trip that’s a little different, this one’s a great shout, especially if you love a good scare. Let me put you on.

The Spooky Solomons Ghost Tour

Spooky Solomons is the island’s only ghost tour, and it’s less jump-scares, more sit-with-you storytelling. Adam leads you on a walk around the little town and shares its real history and legends, from the lady tied to the Drum Point Lighthouse to a fire at the old Bowen’s Inn to the strange disappearance of a guy who once sailed out of Solomons.

There aren’t any actors jumping out at you, which honestly makes it creepier, because it’s all true-ish local lore told really well. Adam clearly knows his stuff (he interviewed a ton of longtime residents to piece it all together), and he’s a seriously good storyteller. Tickets were $20 a person when we went, and you book right on their site. I’d grab your spot ahead of time.

Is the Spooky Solomons Ghost Tour Actually Scary?

Short answer: it depends on how easily you spook, lol. There are no actors or cheap jolts, so it’s not a haunted-house situation. It’s Adam’s storytelling and the dark, quiet island doing the work, and for a scaredy-cat like me, that was more than enough. I made the mistake of asking him if our rental had ghosts, and Robby shot me the fastest death glare. It’s the kind of tour that works for history buffs, couples, and families alike, so you don’t have to be a horror person to enjoy it. Just maybe don’t ask about your Airbnb.

Make a Full Day of It in Solomons

The ghost tour was our nightcap, but Solomons is a whole vibe during the day too. It’s about an hour and a half from DC and you skip the Bay Bridge, which is a win in my book. The Calvert Marine Museum is the big one, with a massive megalodon model, touch tanks full of rays and seahorses, and the historic Drum Point Lighthouse right on the grounds. From there you can wander the waterfront boardwalk, grab seafood with a water view, or post up at the Tiki Bar, a seasonal open-air spot that’s basically a local legend. If you’re into fossils, Calvert Cliffs State Park is a quick drive north, and you can actually hunt for shark teeth on the beach.

If you want to plan your daytime museum stop ahead of the ghost tour, my full Calvert Marine Museum guide covers what to see, what to skip, and how much time to budget.

If you are making a full Southern Maryland day of it, Bubbles Bzzz in Lexington Park is about 30 minutes away in St. Mary’s County and does boba plus paint-your-own pottery, which is a really fun add-on.

Would I Do It Again?

For sure, and I’d send friends too. It’s affordable, it’s a blast, and it turns a cute little waterfront town into something you’ll be talking about for weeks.
