Best Chinese in Towson? Red Pepper Sichuan Bistro Is It

October 9, 2025

Easillllllly one of my Towson go‑tos, and honestly one more Asian spot I keep in heavy rotation around Baltimore (right up there with my go‑to Saigon Blvd banh mi in Catonsville). A huge thanks to the Red Pepper Sichuan Bistro team for always delivering the heat. If you’re craving bold, pepper‑packed flavors, run, don’t walk to this spot on Allegheny Ave. Portions are generous, service is quick, and the menu leans spicy in the best possible way. Expect plenty of chiles and Sichuan peppercorns (aka that fun numbing tingle). If you’re not into that, just let your server know, and they’ll guide you thru the experience.

What We Ordered:

  • Scallion Pancake ($8.95) – Crispy, flaky layers that make the perfect starter (also great with saucy mains).
  • Pork with Hot Pepper ($14.95) – My fave of the night. Tender pork, fire‑kissed peppers, and legit depth. Crave-worthy in the best way possible.
  • Beef with Rice Crust ($22.95) – This was Deke’s fave pick. Savory beef over crunchy rice crust – texture lovers, this is your move.
  • Tofu with Szechuan Pepper ($14.95) – Runner‑up for me. Silky tofu + numbing heat = a vibe. I will never say no to yum tofu dishes, lol.

Heat level: everything we ordered skewed spicy (think LOTS of peppers). We love hot, so this was right up our alley, but just giving you guys a heads up in case you’re no into spicy. NOTE: they have a BIG menu (with photos for each dish) so ordering should be fairly easy. And if all that numbing heat leaves you craving something sweet after, that is exactly when I go hunt down a Delimanjoo at Lotte to reset my tastebuds.
