If you’ve been following me for a while, you know that I’m low key obsessed with Peking Gourmet Inn. They’re my go-to spot for peking duck so I’ll happily make the drive all the way to Falls Church to indulge, and that’s saying a lot because dmv traffic is not amazing, lol.
While you’re already in Falls Church, Eden Center is just minutes away, and Banh Mi Oi makes a great stop before or after your duck, with fresh-baked banh mi that ranks among the best in NoVA.
OK so, here’s everything I got this time around:
1. Peking Duck (half for $46): SO good – carved tableside and served with green onions, fresh pancakes, hoisin, and hot peppers (these are a MUST if you like spicy). TBH, I feel like I wouldn’t like this dish nearly as much without the peppers. Together, these components make the perfect wrap, and I always love it so, so much. I’ve been eating it since I was in high school, and trust me when I say that’s a longgggg time, lol.
2. Beef with Fresh Hot Pepper ($34 for dinner): my first time trying this dish, and the meat was so tender. I definitely wanted this to be spicier though – I found it to be surprisingly mild. I usually get their 5 spice beef, and I’d definitely stick to that moving forward.
3. Fresh shiitake with Chinese baby greens ($32): this is another one of my go-to dishes from Peking Gourmet Inn. They give you a TON of bok choy, and it’s always fresh and yummy! I always have so much leftover, but their food reheats beautifully so I have zero complaints. Pro tip: Ask for a side of chili oil to spice things up a bit! Some may find this to be a little bland.
PS. I love that they give fried rice with their dishes! It’s simple but really satisfying. I always make sure to take some home with me. It’s made with egg and peas.
Pricing’s gone up quite a bit since I last went so just giving you guys a heads up. If you’re interested, they have $19 lunch boxes along with combo options for larger groups.
LOVE this spot, but honestly, the duck is the highlight for sure. Don’t get me wrong, the entrees are tasty – and I’ve tried a LOT of them – but I find the duck to be the yummiest. Have you guys been to this restaurant yet? And do you have a go-to place for peking duck? Let me know by commenting below, Nomsters. I’d love to find a new go-to closer to me!
And if you’re still in the Northern Virginia mood and want to end the night on something sweet, The Kunafa Truck in Vienna is worth the short drive for their warm Palestinian kunafa.
If peking duck closer to home is what you’re after, Tea Horse in Ellicott City might be worth the visit, with duck on the menu and a much shorter drive for anyone in HoCo or Baltimore County.
