VERY excited to share today’s post with you all because it’s one of my all time favorite places. When it comes to kimbap, Myung Ga is a must-visit destination for my family. My parents always request their kimbap during their visits so you *know* it’s the real deal, lol.
Kimbap is a traditional Korean dish consisting of a rice roll filled with a variety of nom ingredients. Myung Ga combines your choice of protein with burdock root, spinach, carrot, fish cake, yellow radish, imitation crab meat, eggs, and rice. And FYI, the word “kim” means dried seaweed, while “bap” means rice.
They have tons of different options to choose from, but I recommend the beef. That’s my all time favorite, and it hits every time. Their pricing range between $8.49 and $12.49, and the beef’s only $9.49. And I say “only” because portions are HUGE, and it’ll really fill you up.
Note: they have a ton of other dishes on their menu, but I only ever get their kimbap so I can’t recommend anything else for you guys at the moment. I’m not sure if this helps, BUT I’ve heard great things about their food in general.
PS. you get complimentary soup with your kimbap! It pairs perfectly with it so I recommend getting a bowl. It’s odeng guk (a traditional Korean fish cake soup) sans odeng, lol. Really comforting & perfect for a cold winter day.
I very much think Myung Ga’s worth the drive, but if you’d rather stay in Maryland, I also like Kim Bob Na Ra in Ellicott City! Make sure you guys let me know what you think if you go. Happy eating, Nomsters!
And if you’re already in Fairfax and want to make a proper NoVa food day out of it, Evelyn Rose in Vienna is a gorgeous farm-to-table dinner spot just five miles away, great for a date night or special occasion.
