Yay! My very first blog post! I’m super excited to start posting on this regularly. Thanks for much for following along, friends – it’s been really cool connecting with you guys on IG & TikTok. Anywho, to kick things off, I’ll be featuring some of my favorite MD spots! SO, let’s discuss 5 must visit taco spots in the Maryland burbs. And as always, these are *not* ranked – they’re just 5 fantastic places you guys should visit!

1. DMV Taqueria

If you’re a taco lover like me, then you know the feeling of discovering a new spot that absolutely blows your mind. That’s exactly how I felt when I tried DMV Taqueria for the first time, and let me tell you, I’m mad at myself for waiting so long to go! I mentioned this on IG before, but I’ll say it again – these are some of the BEST birria tacos I’ve ever had.

Open Wednesday through Saturday, and located in Columbia, MD (…most of the time, lol), they’re a family-owned food truck that has been making some serious waves in the area. Their menu has everything from loaded fries to empanadas so there’s something for everyone. If it’s your first time, the birria tacos are a must, but I also recommend their churros for dessert.

The meat’s so incredibly tender and juicy, but it packs some serious heat, so if you prefer something a bit more mild, you might want to try something else. The churros were equally amazing. Crispy and freshly fried, they stayed that way for a good 2 hours after I got them. They were the perfect ending to a delicious meal.

2. Callejero’s

Next up, Callejero’s. This spot’s attached to a Shell Gas Station in Elkridge, but don’t let the unassuming exterior deter you. In fact, I find spots like these to be extra compelling & full of character. Maybe that makes me a little weird, but hey, good food is good food, right?

If you’re looking for a great deal, make sure to stop by for Taco Tuesday to get 4 tacos for $7.99. The portions are generous, and the flavors are out of this world. Available from 10-5PM, this deal lets you choose from a variety of proteins & comes with salsa verde + hot sauce.

Everything was tasty, but the barbacoa, carnitas and carne asada were standouts. And BTW, remember to ask for their housemade tortillas. That takes everything to a whole new level.

3. Taqueria Los Primos

Featuring a long time favorite next! Taqueria Los Primos always hits, and everything about this spot is fire. I like to get four tacos for $12 (usually pollo, carne asada, chorizo and al pastor), and Deke always gets their birria tacos. Their self-serve sauce bar has all sorts of goodies, and their hot sauce is yum so make sure you try it when you go. ALSO, their guac is a must! I feel like I wouldn’t enjoy their tacos as much without it.

Lines can be long, but don’t worry, you’ll be in and out in no time because service is efficient. You order at the counter, and they bring the food out to you. Easy peasy. Although they have a large menu, I always have a hard time trying anything else other than their tacos because they’re my go-to. I promise to branch out next time, and let you guys know what else is good, lol.

4. El Patrón

Laurel FTW! Located inside an Old Pizza Hut, El Patrón is a hidden gem for real. Their tacos are DELISH, but while you’re there, make sure you get their pupusas. And ask for the hot sauce as well. It’s so good, I wish I could purchase a bottle or two to take home with me.

The whole menu’s in Spanish, but it’s pretty straightforward, and the servers are more than happy to answer any questions you may have. Oh, and did I mention that El Patrón doubles as a bakery? They have a bunch of fresh bread available, and that includes desserts like churros and fruit empanadas.

📍9700 Fort Meade Rd, Laurel, MD 20707

5. Taqueria Habanero

Annnnd last but not least, Taqueria Habanero College Park. From the moment I walked in, I fell in love with the decor, the food, and the service. Highly recommend checking it out if you haven’t already.

Now, even though they’re known for their tacos, don’t limit yourself. All of their food is amazing, so go ahead and go wild with your spread, friends. Here are my top recommendations: Mexican coffee, queso fundido, enchiladas (with red sauce), and churros.

If you haven’t had their birria tacos before though, they’re an absolute must. Trust me on this. You’ll get three for $14, and they are worth every dollar.

If you want to keep exploring the Latin food scene in the Maryland burbs, Lime & Cilantro in Silver Spring is serving modern Latin food with creative tacos like al pastor with pineapple kimchi, and it’s absolutely worth a visit.

Alright Nomsters, that’s a wrap for today. Thanks so much for reading my first official post. What should I blog about next? The sky is the limit so feel free to comment with requests.
