Brunch-lovers, get hyped because I’ve got the low-down on an epic spot in Takoma Park! I just had the most drool-worthy experience at Motorkat, and I can’t wait to tell you all about out. A BIG shoutout to them for the invite b/c tet me tell you, the food was out-of-this-world delicious.
So, let’s talk dishes! The Pork Belly Sandwich ($18) was PHENOMENAL. It may possibly be one of the BEST breakfast sandwiches I’ve ever had the pleasure of devouring. The pork belly was so tender and tasty – apparently, they prep it for like 14 hours – and it was topped with tomato-chili crunch, black garlic aioli, and a perfect over-easy egg. It was so good, but I won’t lie, it was a *little* messy so be ready to get your hands dirty!
If you’re looking for something more on the sweet side, the Crunchy French Toast ($16) is a must-try. It had a corn flake crust, which gave it that perfect crunch, and came with dulce de leche and maple syrup. I thought the dulce de leche was a bit too sweet, but I loved it with maple syrup!
As for sides, I’m not usually a grapefruit fan, but the Spiced & Bruleed Grapefruit ($6) was surprisingly good. It was like taking a bite of fall, seriously. The spices and the bruleed touch were like a match-made-in-heaven. Side note, they don’t always brulee it at the table, but I totally asked them to so I could capture it on video (oops, lol).
Now, let’s talk about the atmosphere. I was impressed not only with their top-notch service but also with their stylish interior. Believe me, the vibes of the place were chill and had good energy – just perfect for a leisurely brunch.
Just one thing to note if you plan to visit – it can get pretty busy on weekends, so parking might be a little tricky. I circled around and ended up finding a spot in one of the nearby neighborhoods, but there’s a lot near the restaurant if worst comes to worst.
