Molly Tea Rockville: A Must-Visit Tea Shop in MoCo

September 10, 2026

Alright Nomsters, real talk, I walked into Molly Tea a little skeptical. A famous tea brand with a ton of hype, in a cute new Rockville spot? I figured, how good could it REALLY be?

Well. Consider me converted, because I was VERY impressed. Molly Tea just made its DMV debut in Rockville, and it specializes in floral teas, with a signature jasmine that goes through a seven-step scenting process and comes out unbelievably fragrant.

I tried five different drinks and every single one was tasty, which almost never happens. If you love a beautiful, floral, not-too-sweet kind of tea, this one’s worth the trip. Here’s what I got and what you should order.

What Makes Molly Tea a Standout Tea Shop

Here’s what sets Molly Tea apart. It’s a famous Chinese tea brand known specifically for floral teas, and their whole thing is doing them properly. The signature jasmine goes through a seven-step scenting process, and you can taste the difference, it’s got this super fragrant, exquisite floral flavor that most milk teas just don’t have.

The other big thing? No syrups. Their drinks are just milk and tea, and they use ceremonial grade matcha and premium ingredients across the board, so nothing tastes artificially sweet or one-note. That kind of care really shows, and honestly, Rockville’s lucky to be the first in the DMV to get one.

What to Order at Molly Tea

I tried five drinks, and picking a top few was really hard, but these are the ones I’d steer you toward.

Snowy Jasmine

If you get one thing, make it the snowy jasmine. The cream on top’s made by infusing organic milk with jasmine tea for 8 to 10 hours, which is wild dedication, and it gives the whole drink this rich, floral, slightly creamy finish. It’s the one I’d tell you to start with.

Pistachio Jasmine Coconut

This was one of my top three, and it’s such a fun combo. You get the nutty pistachio, the floral jasmine, and creamy coconut all in one, and somehow it works without being too sweet. Order it if you like a drink that tastes a little more special.

Jasmine Mango Smoothie

Another top-three pick for me. Bright, fruity mango meets that fragrant jasmine base, and it earned its spot in my top three. Easy crowd-pleaser!

Osmanthus Milk Tea

I also really liked the osmanthus milk tea, which has a delicate, almost apricot-y floral note to it. If jasmine’s not your thing (or you just want to branch out), this is a great one to try.

…And I Already Want to Go Back for More

I only got through five drinks this visit and I’m already itching to go back for the rest of the menu, so treat these as a starting lineup, not the whole story. Picking favorites was tough because everything I tried landed. If you go with a friend, split a few and compare notes, that’s the move.

What Is Molly Tea, and Where’s It From?

It’s a Chinese tea brand that’s kind of a big deal. Molly Tea started in Shenzhen, China back in 2021, and it’s since grown to over 2,000 stores worldwide, which tells you people are obsessed.

Fun fact: the name ‘Molly’ is a play on ‘Mo Li,’ the Chinese word for jasmine, which makes total sense once you taste how central that jasmine flavor is to everything they do. This Rockville location is the brand’s very first in Maryland and its DMV debut, so if you’ve seen it popping off online and wondered when it’d come here, this is it.

The Vibe and Experience

Beyond the drinks, Molly Tea feels more polished than your average boba stop. The brand’s really fashion-forward, with beautiful packaging and really adorable to-go bags (yes, they’re that cute). They’ve also got the CUTEST merch, including a special Maryland item you have to ask about in store, and they rotate in seasonal drinks plus special holiday releases.

It’s the kind of spot where you grab your drinks, snap a pic because everything’s pretty, and feel like you got something a little special. Between the drinks, the packaging, and the merch, there’s a lot to like beyond what’s in the cup.

Is Molly Tea Worth It?

Yes, it lived up to the hype for me, and I say that as someone who walked in skeptical. The jasmine’s genuinely special, the no-syrup approach means the drinks taste clean and refined, and the whole experience feels a cut above. It’s more of a treat-yourself tea run than an everyday grab-and-go, but for the quality, I think it’s worth it. If you’re a tea-and-dessert person in Rockville, another spot I love is Teamania for souffle pancakes and drinks.

Have you guys tried Molly Tea yet, or is it on your list?! Tell me which drink you’d go for in the comments, Nomsters. And if you’re making a whole afternoon of it in Rockville, grab a bite at Far East for dim sum first, then come here for dessert in a cup. Save this and send it to your boba bestie!
