Mirabeau Bakery: A Cozy French Bakery in Rockville, Maryland

October 1, 2026

Pastries are my kryptonite, so when my mom was craving something sweet, Mirabeau in Rockville was an easy yes. This cozy little French bakery has a case full of tempting treats, and we ended up grabbing a little bit of everything, no regrets!

Everything we got was really solid, but the creme brulee donut stole the show, and it’s the reason I’d happily make the drive back. There’s a warm, tucked-away charm to the place, and between the pastries and the fact that I still want to try their sandwiches and coffee, I can already tell I’ll be back. If you’re after a proper French bakery moment in Rockville, Mirabeau’s a gem you need to know about.

What Makes Mirabeau So Special?

Rockville’s got a growing bakery scene, but Mirabeau brings a genuinely French, small-batch feel that stands out. Everything’s freshly baked in limited batches, and the case runs from viennoiserie and cakes to savory bakes, so it’s not just a sweets stop.

It’s on the cozier side, the kind of snug little spot you want to duck into, and they lean into coffee and matcha too. It’s a newer spot in the area, and it already has that neighborhood-gem energy, the kind of place regulars get attached to fast. If you’re bakery-hopping around Rockville, Gwenie’s Pastries is another favorite of mine worth adding to the list.

What to Order at Mirabeau

We grabbed a little bit of everything, and honestly it was hard to pick a favorite. Here’s what we got.

Creme Brulee Donut ($3.95)

This was my favorite by a mile! It’s exactly what it sounds like, a donut riffing on that torched creme brulee flavor, and something about it hit me with a wave of nostalgia, it reminded me of a Korean donut. I can’t fully explain why, but it’s now something I regularly crave. At $3.95, it’s the one I’d come back for on repeat. Funny enough, Chateau de Rockville does a creme brulee donut too, so Rockville’s clearly having a moment with them.

Coffee Cake ($4.50)

A very close second, and really solid in its own right. If the donut sells out before you get there, this is the one I’d happily order instead.

Almond Croissant ($4.75)

It was part of the really solid spread we got, and if a classic almond croissant is your thing, it’s worth adding to your order.

Caramelized Onion Scone ($4.50)

For something on the savory side, this was a nice change of pace from all the sweets. It’s the savory pick in the mix, and a yum option if you want something less dessert-y.

I only scratched the surface, so next time I’m eyeing their macarons, madeleines, and one of their savory sandwiches for an actual lunch.

Can You Get Other Tings at Mirabeau?

Yes, it’s more than a pastry case. Alongside the sweets, they do coffee drinks and matcha lattes, plus savory bakes and sandwiches like a jambon beurre or a quiche, so you can absolutely turn it into a light lunch. I only went for the baked goods this time, but I’ve got my eye on coming back for a sandwich and one of their coffee drinks.

The Vibe and Experience

Mirabeau’s small and cozy, more of a snug neighborhood bakery than a big sit-down cafe, with just a handful of tables inside and a couple outside if you want to linger. I came with my mom, and it’s exactly the kind of low-key spot that’s perfect for grabbing a sweet treat together.

It’s tucked away on Fishers Lane, and while it’s a bit of a drive for me, the donut alone makes it worth it. There’s street parking plus a nearby garage where the first couple hours are free. For another Rockville bakery worth a detour, Japong Bakery does cream puffs and Asian treats I love.

Is Mirabeau Worth the Splurge?

For me, yes, and that creme brulee donut alone is worth it. Even though it’s a bit of a drive, everything we got was really solid, and the donut has me plotting a return, plus I still want to come back for their coffee, matcha, and a proper lunch. If you love a cozy French bakery, Mirabeau’s a gem worth knowing about.
