Glen Burnie Restaurant Spotlight: Mi Guate Antojitos

December 21, 2025

For today’s post, I’m featuring a Guatemalan restaurant in Glen Burnie called Mi Guate Antojitos. I’m not super familiar with Guatemalan cuisine, so when I noticed this spot nearby (I had a doctor’s appointment at Kaiser in Glen Burnie, lol), I decided to swing by for a quick lunch and try a few things. I love finding places like this—casual, comforting, and clearly loved by locals.

Glen Burnie has more of that energy than people realize, and Willy’s Kitchen is another great example: a charming local diner serving farm-sourced breakfast and comfort food that locals are seriously sleeping on.

First up: the Shucos ($14.99). If you’ve never heard of this before, it’s basically a Guatemalan-style hoagie that’s absolutely loaded. Mine was stuffed with cabbage, guacamole, spicy sauce, mayo, diced onions and cilantro, ketchup, and your choice of meat. My server recommended doing hotdog + beef, so I went with that combo!

It also came with a side of fries. Overall, I thought it was a solid sandwich—definitely interesting flavors, and I’m glad I tried it. It felt like the kind of street-food-style bite you’d crave when you want something messy, savory, and satisfying.

Next, I ordered the Churrasquito ($13.99), which comes with marinated beef, rice, refried beans, tortillas, and pico de gallo. Flavor-wise, everything on the plate made sense and it’s the kind of meal that should be a home run… but the beef was a little too tough for me. If it had been more tender, I would’ve loved it. I’d probably skip this one next time and try a different entrée instead.

And now for my favorite part of the meal: Pupusas. I got one cheese ($2.99) and one chicken ($3.50), and these were easily my fave bites of the day. Warm, comforting, and super satisfying—both flavors hit. They came with salsa roja for dipping and curtido (a fermented cabbage slaw) on the side, which added that perfect tangy crunch to balance everything out. If you’re going and want a “safe but still delicious” order, I’d say don’t skip the pupusas.
