I’m SO glad I finally got to check out Mandalay – a place that has been on my foodie bucket list for ages. After much anticipation, I am thrilled to report that their food 100% lives up to the hype. Here’s everything @fooodmuncher and I got to share:
- Burmese Samosa (4 for $8.99): crispy perfection stuffed with a delicious combination of potato, onion, and green peas. This drool-worthy app came with a sweet and tangy dipping sauce, and I’m already craving another round of these tasty eats!
- N#6 Nyat KaukSwe Gyaw ($16.99): flat rice noodles stir-fried with chicken (or pork if you’d prefer), bean sprouts, lettuce, ground peanuts, and egg. This was VERY peanut-heavy as an FYI. The noodles were cooked to perfection – think chewy and flavorful – and I couldn’t resist ordering an extra side of hot sauce, priced at $1.99, to add some heat.
- Ch#11 KyetThar Ohnno Hin ($19.99): this dish features tender chicken chunks served with green pepper, onion, and tomato in a luscious coconut cream sauce. The richness of the sauce is mind-blowing – I swear that it could make even cardboard taste good, lol! 10/10 recommend.
- P#7 WetThar ThaYetThee Hin ($19.99): think succulent pork chunks simmered in a pickled mango curry. With its tender texture, mild spiciness (even when ordered mild, lol), this dish was a winner.
Additional Notes:
- Mandalay Restaurant may not have a fancy ambiance, but the food will blow you away. The warm and welcoming service adds an extra touch of comfort and charm.
- Take note that dine-in is only available in the evenings from Tuesday to Thursday. They offer dine-in for lunch on weekends and carryout for dinner.
- Parking is convenient with a small lot located right next to the restaurant.
- Please remember that ongoing construction in the area has affected small businesses like Mandalay Restaurant. Let’s show them some extra love, Nomsters! 🫶
- Price-wise, Mandalay offers reasonable portions for the value.
- If you have a preference for spicy food, you’re in luck as the flavors tend to run on the spicier side.
- Vegetarian and vegan diners will find plenty of options to satisfy their cravings.
