Lucky Lane Interiors: Home Decor in Old Ellicott City

August 11, 2026

You guys already know I have a soft spot for Old Ellicott City, so any excuse to wander Main Street is a yes from me. On a recent OEC adventure with @nomtasticfoods, I popped into Lucky Lane Interiors, a newer home decor shop right on Main Street, and I loved it. They have so many cute things, the kind of shop where you walk in for one candle and leave with a whole basket. If you’re into home decor and gifts, or you just love supporting a small local business, it’s a must-stop. It’s a fun addition to a stretch that’s already packed with charming little shops, and an easy yes for any Main Street afternoon. Consider yourself put on.

What Makes Lucky Lane Interiors a Standout Ellicott City Shop

Here’s what makes Lucky Lane worth a stop. It’s a genuinely new addition to Main Street, opening its doors in March 2026, and it’s woman-owned by Kerry Whippee, who also runs an interior design and staging business called Shamrock Hill Design. The shop actually started online with a small display inside her staging warehouse before growing into this storefront, so there’s a real point of view behind what’s on the shelves. Even the name’s sweet, it’s named after her dog, Lucky. That mix of a designer’s eye and a small-business heart is what makes Lucky Lane worth knowing about.

What to Shop for at Lucky Lane Interiors

This is where you’ll want to slow down and browse. Lucky Lane packs a lot into one cute space, and here’s the kind of thing you’ll find:

  • Home decor and furnishings, art and wall pieces, and lighting to actually style a room.
  • Candles and home fragrance, plus bath and wellness bits that make easy gifts.
  • Pillows and bedding, kitchen and entertaining pieces, books and stationery, and fun little accessories.
  • A “Local Love” section of locally made goods, so you can shop small while you’re already shopping small.
  • Sweet touches like embroidery kits (a nod to the shop that was in the space before) and their signature headbands.

It’s very much a gift-and-treat-yourself kind of store, so it works whether you’re hunting a housewarming present or just something cute for your own place. If you fall for a bigger piece, they offer free local delivery and ship nationwide on orders over $100, and there are gift cards if you want to pass the fun along. Kerry also does in-store decorating help, which is a nice bonus if you get home and realize you have no idea where to put that new lamp.

What’s Shopping in Old Ellicott City Like?

It’s one of the best little shopping strolls in Maryland. Old Ellicott City is a historic mill town dating back to 1772, all granite buildings and a hilly, walkable Main Street, and it’s a favorite day trip from both Baltimore and DC. The whole appeal is that you park once and wander, ducking into independent shops, cafes, and galleries at your own pace. Lucky Lane fits right into that. Honestly, the best way to experience it is to make a full day of Old Ellicott City, hitting the shops, grabbing a bite, and treating the afternoon like a mini getaway.

The Vibe and Who It’s For

It’s the kind of shop where you walk in and want to see everything, exactly what you want from a Main Street browse. It’s perfect for gift shopping, for a little treat-yourself moment, or for anyone redoing a room who wants pieces with personality instead of big-box sameness. It’s also just a lovely spot to support, a woman-owned small business run by someone who clearly cares. If you’re a fan of Main Street gift shops, it sits nicely alongside spots like Matcha Time Gift Shop just up the street.
