YAY for yum Italian food. I recently grabbed lunch at Lia’s in Chevy Chase with one of my favorite humans (shoutout to Minje Suh), and it was such a fantastic meal. It was my first time dining here… but definitely not my last. Here’s everything we ordered:
- Caprese Burrata ($17): This dish featured heirloom tomato, parm crisps, pickled pearl onion, and micro basil. I’m a sucker for burrata, and in my book, even “bad burrata” is still good burrata, but this was genuinely outstanding. Also, I’m a big heirloom tomato stan, so this got a full 10/10 from me.
- Shrimp Scampi ($25): I will never not order pasta when a place has housemade noodz, lol. There were so many tempting options, but I went with the shrimp scampi and it totally delivered. It was perfectly cooked spaghetti tossed with garlic, chili flakes, white wine, and parmesan, plus the most succulent shrimp. It was so flavorful, and they were generous with the portion too.
- Italian Spice Crusted Salmon ($30) This was Minje’s entrée, but I tried a bite and thought it was fantastic. The fish tasted super fresh and came with crispy rosemary and parm potatoes, grilled lacinato kale, and preserved lemon jus that pulled everything together. It felt bright, balanced, and seriously well done.
ALSO, Lia’s has one of the best patio spaces in Chevy Chase, and it’s perfect for a relaxed lunch or aperitivo moment. Valet parking is available, which is always a win in this area. They offer Aperitivo Hour Tuesday through Friday from 3–7 PM, and they also run it all day on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.
PS. rhey have a rewards program where you get $10 off every $250 you spend, plus special deals and a gift on your birthday. I also regret not getting dessert, and I’m still thinking about it.
