September 1, 2026

If you’re spending a day in Havre de Grace, do yourself a favor and carve out time for this one. Jo Retro is a family-owned vintage shop in the heart of downtown, and I realllllly liked it, it’s easily a must if you find yourself in this cute waterfront town.

Picture a big, bright space packed floor to ceiling with everything from cute clothes to walls of vintage Pyrex, and you’ve got the idea. It’s the kind of shop where you walk in for a quick peek and look up an hour later still digging through the shelves. Whether you’re a serious vintage collector or you just love a good browse, this spot delivers. Come with time to spare, Nomsters, because there’s a LOT to take in, and half the fun is the hunt.

What Makes Jo Retro a Standout Shop in Havre de Grace

What makes Jo Retro special is the mix. It’s not a stuffy antique store where everything’s behind glass, and it’s not a modern boutique either, it’s both at once. You’ll find genuine vintage from the ’50s through the ’70s sitting right next to new, retro-inspired gifts, so there’s something for you whether you want a real collector’s piece or just a fun, affordable find.

The shop’s around 5,000 square feet, which is huge for a downtown storefront, and it’s become a real destination, folks call it a Pyrex mecca of the East Coast for the sheer size of its collection. If you love a good shopping town, Havre de Grace delivers on that, and the best shops in downtown Frederick are another DMV stop worth adding to the list.

What to Shop For at Jo Retro

Here’s what you’ll want to dig through, and trust me, you’ll want to dig.

Vintage Pyrex

This is the main event. Jo Retro’s known nationwide for one of the largest vintage Pyrex selections around, color-sorted into a wall display that’s honestly a whole photo op. If you collect the patterned mixing bowls, casseroles, and refrigerator dishes, or you’re just Pyrex-curious, this is the spot to lose yourself in. They even work with a Baltimore artist who turns broken Pyrex into jewelry, so nothing goes to waste.

Vintage and Retro Clothing

The cute clothes are no joke. There’s a solid rack of vintage fashion going back decades alongside newer retro-styled pieces, so you can score a true throwback or something new with an old-school vibe. Great for anyone who loves dressing a little differently from the mall crowd.

Gifts, Homeware, and Fun Oddities

Beyond the Pyrex and the clothes, you’ve got mid-century barware, vinyl records, linens, home decor, stationery, and quirky retro gifts. This is the section that makes Jo Retro such a good stop for gift shopping, you’ll find something for the friend who has everything, usually at a price that won’t hurt. It’s also just a fun place to poke around even if you’re not buying a thing.

Why Is Everyone Obsessed With Vintage Pyrex?

If you’re wondering what the big deal is with old Pyrex, you’re not alone. Vintage Pyrex, especially the colorful patterned pieces made from the 1940s through the ’80s, has become a serious collector’s world. The appeal’s a mix of nostalgia, that mid-century look, and the fact that the old glass was genuinely built to last, so pieces still hold up decades later.

Certain rare patterns can fetch real money, but plenty of it’s still affordable and totally usable in your kitchen today. Jo Retro leans into useable vintage over untouchable collectibles, which is why it’s such an easy place to start even if you’ve never collected a thing. Want a primer before you go? The Vibe and Experience

Jo Retro sits right on North Washington Street in downtown Havre de Grace, one of the most charming little historic districts in Maryland. The town’s a walkable waterfront spot where the Susquehanna River meets the Chesapeake Bay, so you can easily make a whole day of it, browse the shop, wander down to the Concord Point Lighthouse and the promenade, then hit the other boutiques nearby. When you work up an appetite, Tidewater Grille down by the water does waterfront crab that’s the perfect way to cap the day.
