JAM Eateries: One of the Best Brunch Spots in Ellicott City

September 3, 2026

Breakfast people, this one’s for you. If you’re ever in Ellicott City and looking for a proper brunch, JAM Eateries needs to be on your radar. It’s known for creative takes on breakfast classics, and I honestly think it’s one of the best breakfast spots in all of Howard County.

I went with my mom to share a spread, which is truly the best way to do JAM, since you’ll want to try a little of everything. We ended up with a savory omelet, a hearty corned beef hash, and a stack of their berry pancakes, and every single plate delivered. There’s a huge mix of sweet and savory options here, plus craft cocktails and mimosas if you’re making a whole thing of it. Fair warning though, it gets busy, so plan ahead if you’re going on a weekend.

What Makes JAM Eateries a Standout Breakfast Spot

JAM bills itself as a neighborhood brunch joint, and it nails that cozy, come-as-you-are energy while still going all-out on the food. The whole concept is inventive spins on breakfast classics, so you’ll see things like loaded specialty pancakes and over-the-top French toast right next to hearty savory plates.

It’s run by a group with decades of restaurant experience, and you can spot those southern-charm touches throughout the menu. They also do a serious drinks program, with homemade Bloody Marys and seasonal mimosa flights, which makes it a fun spot for a celebration brunch. Add in that it’s one of the most popular breakfast spots around, and it’s easy to see why the wait can get long on weekends.

What to Order at JAM Eateries

Don’t Forget the Veggies Omelet ($17)

This was my mom’s pick, and she was obsessed. It’s packed with a ton of different veggies and topped with plenty of avocado, and it comes with home fries on the side. She said it was one of the tastiest omelettes she’s had in a while, which is high praise coming from her. If you want something on the lighter, fresher side, this is a great call.

Corned Beef Hash ($18)

This one was mine, and it’s super hearty in the best way. I went with boiled potatoes instead of home fries to feel a little virtuous, and then immediately ordered a side of pancakes to share anyway, lol. My big tip: get your eggs with runny yolks so they sauce everything underneath. It’s exactly the kind of plate you want when you show up really hungry.

JAMmin’ Berry Pancakes ($17)

I love the pancakes and French toast here, and always grab a plate to share. These berry pancakes were my first time, and they were so yum! You get both fresh blueberries and a blueberry-blackberry compote, and that little bit of tartness balances out the sweetness so it never feels heavy. I’d absolutely get these again.

That’s just what we tried this round. The menu is huge, so here’s what I’ve got my eye on next:

  • Croissant French Toast and Banana Foster French Toast (their French toast game is no joke)
  • The Crab Cake Benedict, a very Maryland move with fried green tomatoes and Old Bay
  • Fun stuff like Fruity Pebble Pancakes, Churro Waffles, and Chicken and Waffles with hot honey
  • Shrimp and Grits if you’re in the mood for something savory and southern
  • A homemade Bloody Mary or a mimosa flight to go alongside

What Is JAM Eateries Known For?

If you’re wondering what the hype’s about, JAM’s whole thing is taking breakfast classics and making them a little extra. Think pancakes stuffed with Fruity Pebbles, French toast built like dessert, and a Crab Cake Benedict that leans into Maryland with Old Bay and fried green tomatoes. On the drinks side, they’re known for homemade Bloody Marys (one comes with an Old Bay rim) and flights of seasonal mimosas. Basically, it’s comfort breakfast with an indulgent, playful spin, which is exactly why people are willing to wait for a table.

The Vibe and Experience

The vibe is exactly what you’d want from a neighborhood brunch spot: warm, casual, and family-friendly (they’ve got highchairs, and it’s a great mother-daughter or group outing). Just know it’s popular, so weekends can mean a wait. They don’t take traditional reservations, but you can hop on their online waitlist before you go, which is clutch. There’s on-site parking and some outdoor seating too. If you’re in the area for a brunch date, my Cafe Columbia crepe pick is another lovely Howard County option.
