It was my first time in Havre de Grace, and you already know I rolled in with a full food itinerary, lol. My dessert stop was Jaime Bakes, a little bakery tucked into the shops on St John Street, and I’m SO glad I made room for it because they do not mess around.
This spot’s known for their cookie pies, and the cookie pie cheesecake I split with a friend did not disappoint. If you’re anywhere near downtown Havre de Grace and you’ve got a sweet tooth, Jaime Bakes is a must, with a case full of cookie pies, moist cinnamon rolls, eclairs, and custom cakes at budget-friendly prices. Let me put you on, Nomsters, because this one earned its spot on my Harford County list.

What Makes Jaime Bakes a Standout Bakery
Havre de Grace’s a cute waterfront town up in Harford County, and Jaime Bakes fits right into its downtown stretch of shops. It’s a small mom-and-pop bakery, and the thing that puts it on the map is the cookie pies, these giant, thick cookies baked up like a pie that you slice and share. But the case doesn’t stop there.
They do custom cakes and cupcakes, cake pops, brownies, breakfast pastries, and a rotating lineup of daily treats, so what’s in the case shifts depending on when you pop in. Everything’s baked fresh, and the pricing’s affordable enough that you can grab a few things without overthinking it. For a first-timer building a food crawl, it’s an easy dessert win.
What to Order at Jaime Bakes
Cookie Pie Cheesecake ($9.99)
This was the star of my visit. My friend wanted to try it so we split a slice, and it absolutely tasted as good as it looked, which is saying something because it’s a real looker. It was so yum, easily the highlight of what we grabbed. Definitely one to share.
Jaime Bakes runs their cookie pies in different flavors, and I’ve already got my eye on the Oreo for next time. If you only order one thing here, make it a cookie pie. If you’re a pie person in general, their whole cookie-pie thing might win you over, right alongside B-More Pies’ chocolate chess pie down in Baltimore.

Cinnamon Roll ($5.49)
I loved this one. It was super moist with just the right amount of icing, not that overly sweet situation where the whole roll disappears under a mountain of glaze. That balance is exactly what I want in a cinnamon roll. At $5.49 it’s a solid grab, and it’d be perfect with a coffee if you’re easing into the morning. Def add it to the order.
Eclair ($3.75)
Being real with you, this was my least favorite of the three, but it was still solid. It just didn’t wow me the way the cookie pie and cinnamon roll did. No regrets at $3.75, but if you’re choosing, I’d point your money toward the cookie pie first.
A few other things worth knowing if you’re browsing the case:
- Their Original Cookie Pie is loaded up with a chocolate chip cookie crust, Nutella, Oreos, cookie butter, and Biscoff cookies, and it comes in 6-inch and 9-inch sizes.
- They also do custom celebration and wedding cakes, with flavors like red velvet, marble, funfetti, and cookies and cream.
- The pie lineup goes beyond cookie pies too, with pecan, apple, and pumpkin pies on the menu.

So What’s A Cookie Pie?!
If you haven’t run into one, a cookie pie’s basically a giant, soft, chewy cookie baked in a pie dish instead of scooped into individual cookies. So you get the gooey middle and slightly crisp edges of a fresh-baked cookie, but in a sliceable, shareable pie format. Jaime Bakes leans all the way into the concept, which is why it’s their signature. Think of it as the love child of a cookie and a pie, and yes, it’s exactly as fun to eat as that sounds.
The Vibe and Experience
Jaime Bakes sits in a renovated little cluster of shops set around a brick patio on St John Street, which is honestly a charming spot to post up in downtown Havre de Grace. It’s a casual neighborhood bakery, and since it sits right on that brick patio, the whole block’s a nice place to wander after you grab your treats. Since it’s part of the walkable downtown, it slots perfectly into a day of poking around town, and speaking of, Jo Retro and its vintage Pyrex finds is a fun stop if you’re making a whole afternoon of it.
