Hot Pot Kitchen: NEW to Rockville

January 15, 2024

Update: this spot has permanently closed, so it is no longer open to visit. I am keeping the review up for posterity.

Hey Nomsters!!! Hot Pot Kitchen is now open in Rockville. They took over the old Hot Pot Legend spot, if you’re familiar with the area. I recently had the pleasure of visiting, and it was pretty awesome, lol. Not gonna lie though, I will almost always love any hot pot experience unless it’s flat out bad for some reason.

Let’s talk deets…

1️⃣ The Broths: If you’re like me and love trying different flavors, I highly recommend going with a friend and opting for the 3 pot option ($33.95 for dinner, no extra charge for the 3 post). We went with the mushroom, tomato, and spicy chili broths, and each one was delish. The spicy’s is not for the faint of heart. It’s packed with Sichuan peppercorns so if you’re not a fan of the numbing sensations, I’d go with a different broth.

2️⃣ Presentation: Everything is fresh and presented beautifully. From the array of ingredients to the sauce bar, you can tell that quality’s important to them. The sauce bar’s pretty basic, but they have all the standard options you need. My go-to combination includes lots of peanut sauce with cilantro, scallions, Thai chili peppers, and chili oil. Nom.

3️⃣ AYCE Skewers: This is one of the unique selling points of HPK. They offer all-you-can-eat skewers for an additional $5 per person. We ordered the fish ball, lamb, and squid skewers, and they were on point. The flavors were well-balanced & cooked to perfection.

4️⃣ Smaller Portions: You order through your phone with your table’s QR code. It’s a seamless process, and I like that they don’t overwhelm you with too much food at once b/c you can always get more if you’d like.

5️⃣ 10% Cash Discount: I never carry cash with me, BUT if you do or remember to hit the ATM before you visit, make sure you take advantage of the 10% off.

I definitely enjoyed my experience here and will definitely be returning. Have you been to this place yet? Tell me about *your* favorite hot pot spots in the DMV by commenting below, Nomsters.
