The BEST Donuts in Maryland: 13 Must Try Spots

December 26, 2024

Alright Nomsters, you guys probably already know this, but I am a DONUT FIEND! So for today’s post, we’re doing a big roundup, featuring some of the yummiest spots in MD. We’re talking about 13 different places today so be excited. And as always, my lists are UNRANKED so please don’t @ me about who is what number, lol. They’re all awesome and deserve to be on this “Best Donuts in Maryland” list IMO. Oh, and my fellow fall lovers, do not sleep on Deddle’s apple cider donuts, the mini ones are unreal when the season hits.

1. The Big Belly Deli

Probably one of my FAVORITE donut shops in Maryland (if not my favorite, lol). These massive noms are made fresh every morning, and they have lots of unique flavors to choose from. They sell out quickly though so make sure you go early if you can. PS. make sure you grab one of their ginormous sandwiches while you’re there as well.

📍887 Sandosky Road, Sykesville, MD
⏰T-Fr 7-4pm, Sa 8-4pm, Su 8-2pm

2. Carlson’s

There’s so much to love about Carlson’s. I honestly don’t know where to start. Not only are their donuts incredible, but they have some of the best Thai food in MD IMO (their Annapolis location). As for donuts, expect to enjoy the freshest and fluffiest creations around – just make sure you go early because their most popular options go quickly.

📍7846 Telegraph Road, Severn, MD
⏰T-Su 5-11:30am (this video was shot at their Severn spot)

3. Beiler’s Donuts at Dutch Farmer’s Market

Full disclosure, I find Beiler’s donuts to be a little too sweet for my taste, BUT they’re super popular so I wanted to list them on here. They’re made with quality ingredients + they’re often made fresh throughout the day. Even though these donuts aren’t my personal fave, I’m a big fan of the Dutch Farmer’s Market. Their pretzels are my FAVE, and I think they have some of the best wings in town.

📍9701 Fort Meade Road, Laurel (they have other locations as well though)
⏰Th 9-6pm, Fr 8:30-6pm, Sa 8-3pm

4. Arundel Donuts

This Glen Burnie donut shop’s a local favorite for good reason. Not only are their donuts phenomenal, their customer service is second to none. They’ve been around for decades, and they treat their guests like family. Highly recommend their cronuts, apple fritters, and their marshmallow donuts.

📍7958 Baltimore Annapolis Blvd, Glen Burnie
⏰Tue-Su 5:30AM-11:30AM, closed Mondays

5. Laurel Tavern Donuts

Another one of my faves, Laurel Tavern Donuts is the last remaining location of the OG Little Tavern Shops (a chain inspired by White Castle). The space itself is super nostalgic, but they still offer the original recipe for sliders + donuts. And they’re delicious in case you were wondering.

📍115 Washington Blvd, Laurel
⏰M-Sa 6am-3pm

6. Diablo Doughnuts

This family-owned shop’s famous for their bold and unique flavors. One of their most popular option’s called Unicorn Farts soooo ’nuff said, lol. They also offer cruffins, fritters, and doughnut kits so you can decorate your own for fun in the comfort of home. Savory eats are also available as well.

📍7698 Belair Rd Suite 101, Nottingham
⏰Th-Su 6am-2pm

7. Donut Shack

@nomtasticbaltimore Have you guys been to Donut Shack in #SevernaPark yet? Highly recommend the chocolate cream if you go 🍩 #mdfood #mdburbs #mdfoodie #mdfoodies #dmvfood #sweettooth ♬ Cafe music, corporate VP, comfortable(1277239) – zukisuzuki

Located in Severna Park, Donut Shack’s been open and serving the community since the 70s. They offer various flavors of hand-cut donuts + pastries and have some of the best coffee around, thanks to their partnership with Ceremony Roasters. Def. make sure to stop by to enjoy a treat with your morning cup of joe.

📍497 Ritchie Hwy Ste 2E, Severna Park, MD
⏰5am-5pm daily

8. Donut Run

If you’re looking for yum vegan donuts, Donut Run is the place to go. They’re technically DC/Takoma Park, but I wanted to include them because they’re so good AND they’re a great option for my plant based Nomsters. They post their menu daily @ 7am, and they sell out pretty quickly so go early if you can.

📍6904 4th St NW, Washington, DC
⏰7am-2pm daily

9. Fractured Prune

Fractured Prune is an OC gem. I always make sure to get a half dozen any time I’m in the area. They’re always made-to-order, and they’re yummiest when enjoyed fresh and hot. They have different flavors available, but you’re also able to customize ’em however you’d like.

📍14th St, Ocean City, MD
⏰M-Fr 7am-12pm, Sa 7am-2pm

10. Geresbeck’s

Geresbeck’s baked goods are award-winning for a reason! They’re especially famous for their chocolate eclairs, but their donuts are fantastic as well. Plus, they’re HUGE and super affordable which is always a plus in my book.

📍2109 Eastern Boulevard, Middle River, MD
⏰M-Sa 6am-10pm, Su 6am-9pm

11. Gwenie’s Pastries

@nomtasticbaltimore If you haven’t visited Gwenie’s yet, run don’t walk. They’re famous for their incredible Filipino desserts, and my favorites are their ube cheesecake & donuts. 10/10. #rockville #rockvillemd #mdfood #mdfoodie #mdfoodies #marylandfood #marylandfoodie #marylandfoodies ♬ FEEL THE GROOVE – Queens Road, Fabian Graetz

If you haven’t been to Gwenie’s Pastries yet, run, don’t walk. They’re an amaaaaazing Filipino bakery that offers a range of artisan baked goods including filled donuts that will make you cry tears of joy. Their most popular flavors are nutella, ube and mango. Expect standout texture and taste that’s not overly sweet. The fillings are well-balanced within the dough, and the soft cream contrasts beautifully with the exterior. YUM!

📍12113 Nebel St, Rockville, MD
⏰W-Sa 10-6pm, Su 10-3pm

12. Sandy Pony Donuts

This specialty donut shop’s famous for creating fresh, hot donuts tailored to customer preferences. They offer 24 different flavors on their menu, with some being named after wild ponies and island culture, paying homage for their food truck beginnings in Chincoteague. They offer gluten free donuts (!!!!) along with acai bowls, bubble tea, smoothies and more.

📍2444 Solomons Island Rd d1, Annapolis (various other locations)
⏰M-Th 7am-12pm, Fr-Su 7am-2pm

13. Deddle’s Donuts

WOW, these mini-donuts high key blew me away. I first tried their donuts at the Baltimore Christmas Market and I knew I had to check out their stall at Lexington Market. I went recently, and they were just as good as the first time. They’re made to order and you can see your donuts being made right in front of your eyes. They’re SUPER soft and fluffy, and I can pretty much guarantee it’ll be love at first bite. The apple cider ones are a must. Trust.

📍400 W Lexington St, Baltimore
⏰M-Sa 10-5pm

Add Blondie’s Doughnuts in Edgewater to the list. Their doughnuts are delicious but their breakfast sandwiches, especially the brisket one, are just as good.
