I’ve been following @goodies.sweets_treats for a while now, and I’m always blown away by what she makes, so getting to actually taste a box was a whole moment. These are some of the best custom sugar cookies in Maryland, no exaggeration, they’re stunning to look at AND they taste incredible.
Owner Maribeth Bowden Myers is a ridiculously talented Ellicott City home baker, and the thing that sets her apart is that she works in buttercream instead of the usual hard royal icing. She’s not taking custom orders at the moment, but she drops boxes now and then and announces them on her Instagram stories, so this is your sign to follow and keep an eye out. 10/10, SERIOUSLY.

What Makes Goodies’ Sugar Cookies So Good
Here’s the difference: most decorated sugar cookies you see are done in royal icing, which sets rock hard and is all about that crisp, glossy finish. Maribeth uses buttercream, so her designs stay soft, creamy and actually fun to eat, you’re getting real flavor, not just a pretty picture. And they ARE pretty, like almost-too-nice-to-eat pretty. I say almost because @nomtasticfoods and I demolished ours in about two seconds flat, but more on that in a minute, lol. The Taste Test That Got Completely Out of Hand
Real talk: @nomtasticfoods and I had just hit up FOUR restaurants before we got to these cookies, so we were absolutely stuffed. We literally told ourselves, “we’ll just take one little bite to taste test”… and then crushed two full cookies each. Zero regrets. That’s how good they are, they made room where there was no room. They’re made with buttercream and they’re so, SOOO good, like best-sugar-cookies-I’ve-ever-had good. If you get your hands on a box, I can pretty much guarantee you’ll be eating a whole one the second you bite in.

1000%. These are honestly the best sugar cookies I’ve had, and the fact that they look that good AND taste that good is rare, usually you get one or the other.
