Gianni’s: Affordable Italian Comfort Food in Severn

September 24, 2025

Gianni’s in Severn has been on my Italian rotation for a while now, and honestly, I don’t know why it took me so long to circle back. I’d featured them before, but it had been a minute, so I stopped in to work through more of their classics (plus a few dishes that were new to me). Between the hearty pasta, the cheesy pizza, and the desserts that always hit, this Severn spot keeps proving why locals treat it as a true neighborhood favorite. It’s Italian-American comfort food done the way you actually want it, and it’s affordable enough that you don’t have to overthink the order. The short version is that the Warrior Roll is the move, the tiramisu’s still one of my go-to desserts around here, and the whole meal won’t break the bank. Family-owned since 1985 and still slinging some of the best Italian food in Severn, MD.

What Makes Gianni’s a Standout Italian Spot in Severn

The thing about Gianni’s is that it’s been family-owned since 1985, so this isn’t some flashy new concept, it’s a spot that’s had decades to get the comfort-food basics right. And it isn’t just about pizza, even though their Godfather pie has a serious loyal following. You’ve got classic Italian-American everything, from pasta bakes to subs and rolls, plus specialty pizzas and desserts worth saving room for. What really sets it apart for me is the value. The portions are hearty, the prices stay budget-friendly, and it’s the kind of place you can hit for a family dinner, a takeout run, or just a tiramisu craving without a second thought. If I want another nearby Italian pizza-and-pasta option for a delivery night, Angelina’s Pizza & Pasta in Hanover is my go-to, but Gianni’s is my Severn pick.

What to Order at Gianni’s

I came back to work through the classics and a couple of new-to-me plates, so here’s what I got this time.

Stuffed Shells ($12.95)

Three jumbo shells loaded with cheese and served with plenty of garlic bread. This is comfort food, plain and simple, and it’s the kind of plate I’d order again in a heartbeat! The shells are generous, the cheese pull’s real, and that garlic bread on the side does not hurt one bit. If you want something cozy and filling that doesn’t try too hard, start right here.

Warrior Roll ($12.95)

This one’s a must! It’s basically a pizza pinwheeled and stuffed with pepperoni, sausage, and freshly grated mozzarella, then served with a side of their homemade pizza sauce for dipping. It’s hearty, it’s SO flavorful, and it’s exactly what you want from a local Italian spot that knows what it’s doing. Get it if you can’t decide between a pizza and a sub, because it kind of gives you both in one.

White Pizza ($14.95 for a small)

Made with olive oil, garlic, Italian spices, ricotta, and mozzarella. Now, I usually rave about their pizza, but this particular one wasn’t my personal favorite. It’s not that it’s bad, it just didn’t wow me the way their other pies do. That said, if you’re a white-pizza person, it’s worth a try, your mileage may vary on this one.

Tiramisu ($4.25)

Light, creamy, packed with flavor, and SO yum. At $4.25 it’s almost too easy to tack onto the order, and it’s been one of my go-to desserts here for ages. It didn’t disappoint this time either. Do not skip dessert, is what I’m saying!

A couple more I always recommend even on visits I don’t order them are the Godfather pie and the Italian Cold Cut Sub, both longtime standouts here.

Why I Keep Coming Back to Gianni’s

I’ve been featuring Gianni’s for a while now, and it’s earned that repeat-visit status the honest way, by being consistent. It’s my reliable Severn Italian pick for the nights I don’t feel like overthinking dinner. And if you’re making a whole food run out of Severn, the neighborhood’s got more going on than just Italian. Carlson’s Donuts right down the road is a mom-and-pop donut gem worth a stop for dessert round two. Between the two, you’ve got dinner and a sweet treat sorted without ever leaving the area.

What’s the Godfather Pie at Gianni’s?

If you’ve seen Gianni’s regulars rave about the Godfather, here’s the deal. It’s their signature specialty pizza, loaded with pepperoni, sausage, green pepper, onion, and mushroom, and you can get it Chicago-style deep dish if you want it extra hefty. It’s the pie with the most loyal following, and it stays on my personal recommendation list even on visits when I order something else. If it’s your first time at Gianni’s, this is the one to beat.

The Vibe and Experience

Gianni’s sits in the Severn Square Shopping Center, so it’s a casual, park-out-front, neighborhood kind of setup, not a special-occasion place, and that’s exactly the appeal. It’s the spot for a low-key family dinner, an easy takeout night, or swinging in just for dessert. There’s free parking in the shopping center lot, and it’s an easy stop if you’re anywhere near Fort Meade or Arundel Mills. Come hungry and casual, that’s really all it asks of you.
