Looking for a giant donut that costs barely over a dollar? Geresbeck’s, a grocery store in Middle River, MD, bakes some of the biggest donuts I’ve ever seen fresh every single day, and they’re just $1.19 a pop. It’s a budget-friendly treat for any donut lover, and the apple’s the one to beat.
It’d been a minute since my last Geresbeck’s run, so when I finally made it back I headed straight for the bakery counter and grabbed a box. And man, I forgot how MASSIVE these things are. We’re talking some of the biggest donuts I’ve ever laid eyes on, the kind you have to wrestle into the box. I got four different flavors and genuinely had trouble fitting them all in mine, lol. The best part? Nobody expects a grocery store to be turning out donuts this good.

What Geresbeck’s Is Known For
Geresbeck’s is a food market, but the thing I keep coming back for is that in-store bakery. The donuts are baked fresh daily, they’re huge, and they’re only $1.19 each, which is honestly wild for the size you get. If you love a little bang for your buck, this is about as good as it gets. They’re not fancy or gourmet, they’re just big, fresh, satisfying donuts at a price that makes it easy to grab a few.
What I really like about Geresbeck’s donuts in Middle River is how low-stakes the whole thing is. There’s no line snaking out the door, no worrying they’ll sell out of your favorite before you get there. You knock out your grocery run and walk out with a box of donuts bigger than your hand. Geresbeck’s actually earned a spot on my roundup of the best donuts in Maryland, and it’s easily one of the more underrated donut stops in the Baltimore area.
If you’re drawn to spots with real history, Woodlea Bakery in Baltimore has been doing old-school donuts and strawberry shortcake in the Gardenville neighborhood since 1943 and is another one worth checking out.
It’s also a genuinely great option if you’re feeding a crowd. At $1.19 a donut, you can grab a whole box for a work breakfast, a family get-together, or a weekend treat without it costing much at all. Given how big each one is, a little goes a long way too.
What to Order at Geresbeck’s

I grabbed four different flavors this visit, and while the whole box was solid, a couple really stood out. Don’t come expecting wild, gourmet, novelty flavors here, this is more about classics done big and done fresh. And honestly, when the classics are this generous and this affordable, that’s exactly what I want. Here’s what I’d point you toward.
Apple ($1.19)
This was easily my favorite of the bunch, and the one I’d grab again in a heartbeat. If you’re only getting one donut at Geresbeck’s, make it the apple. It’s the flavor I keep thinking about, and for barely more than a dollar, it’s a no-brainer.
Boston Cream ($1.19)
A very close second for me. I’m a sucker for a good filled donut, and this one hit the spot. If a proper filled donut’s your thing, Geresbeck’s does a nice one, and it’s worth noting the fill-to-donut ratio holds up even at that size.
The other two I got rounded out a genuinely solid box. I wouldn’t call any of them a miss, but the apple and Boston cream were the two I’d tell you to prioritize. If you’re grabbing a few to share, I’d build the box around those and let everyone fight over the apple, lol.
When Can You Get Geresbeck’s Donuts?
Pretty much whenever, which is one of my favorite things about this spot. The Middle River store’s open from 6am to 10pm most days (until 9pm on Sundays), so unlike a lot of donut shops that sell out and shut down by noon, you can swing by for a fresh donut in the evening. Late-night donut craving? Geresbeck’s has you covered in a way almost no dedicated donut shop can. It’s a small thing, but it genuinely makes them more convenient than most.

Does Geresbeck’s Have More Than One Location?
Yes, besides the Middle River store I visited, Geresbeck’s has locations in Pasadena and Glen Burnie. So if you’re closer to either of those, you don’t have to trek out to Middle River to get your fix. I can only vouch for the Middle River bakery from this visit, but it’s good to know the donuts aren’t a one-location-only thing.
