Okay, F1 Arcade in Washington DC was an absolute BLAST! I need to tell you guys about it. Picture a full-on Formula 1 racing simulator experience wrapped around a real cocktail bar and kitchen, all in one big, buzzy space in NoMa. You strap into a full-motion sim, race your friends, and then grab a drink and some food without ever leaving. It’s easily one of the more fun date-night-or-group-hang ideas I’ve done in the city lately.
F1 Arcade invited us in to check it out, and I totally get why it’s such a hyped night out. If you’ve been hunting for something to do in DC that isn’t just dinner, this is it: the racing’s the star, the drinks are a solid bonus, and it all sits right by Union Market. Here’s exactly how it works and whether it’s worth your night out.

What Makes F1 Arcade a Standout Racing Sim Bar in NoMa
Plenty of spots in DC do cocktails, and plenty do games, but F1 Arcade does the rare thing of nailing both under one roof. The headline is the racing: 83 full-motion Formula 1 simulators that actually move with you, so it feels less like an arcade cabinet and more like the real (terrifying, thrilling) thing. Wrap that around a legit bar and kitchen and you’ve got a venue that works for a date, a birthday, a work outing, or a random Tuesday when you want to do something. That combo, plus the Union Market location, is exactly why it stands out from a normal night out.
What to Know Before You Play at F1 Arcade
The Racing
This is the main event, and you do NOT need to know anything about F1 to have a great time. Sessions run about 30 minutes with a few back-to-back races, and there are five difficulty levels from total-rookie to elite, so first-timers and the one competitive friend in your group can all race together. The sims are full-motion, they walk you through it, and honestly the leaderboard trash talk is half the fun. If you’re bringing kids during the day, the minimum age to actually race is 7.

The Food and Drinks
Real talk, the racing’s the reason to come, and the food and drinks are a solid supporting act rather than the headliner. That said, they hold their own. I had a VIP Pass cocktail and the mediterranean chicken skewers were my fave bite of the night, and the bar (they call it the Octane Bar) runs everything from signature cocktails to beer, wine, and a real mocktail menu. Good to know: you can come JUST to eat and drink without racing at all, and there’s a Monday-through-Friday happy hour if you want to keep it budget-friendly.
Booking and Pricing
Book ahead. There are a limited number of walk-in spots each day, but weekends fill up, so reserve if you can (Monday through Wednesday you can pay on arrival). Family sessions start around $39 for three people for 30 minutes, which is a great deal for a group, and they ask you to arrive about 15 minutes before your slot. The one thing to skip: showing up on a Saturday night with no reservation and hoping for the best.
Is F1 Arcade Good for Date Night?
Yes, it’s a great one. It’s active and a little competitive (an instant icebreaker), and then you can slide right into cocktails and skewers without booking a second stop. Just know it turns 21+ in the evening, so if drinks are the plan, go at night. If you want to pair it with more DC date-night ideas, Allegory is my pick for one of the best cocktail bars in the city, an easy second stop once you’ve raced.

The Vibe and Experience
It’s a big, high-energy space built for a fun night out, the kind of place where the energy’s contagious. It handles a crowd well, which makes it great for groups and celebrations, not just couples. During the day it skews all-ages and family-friendly; at night it turns into more of a grown-up, going-out spot. They handle big groups well too, with semi-private rooms and watch parties for actual F1 races, so it’s a strong pick for birthdays and work celebrations. Come ready to be a little competitive and you’ll have a blast!

Is F1 Arcade Worth The Visit?
Yes, especially if you go in treating it as an experience first and a meal second. For a date, a group celebration, or an out-of-the-box night in DC, it’s such a fun time, and I’d happily go back. If you’re building a whole day of play, my post on the secret arcade in Glen Burnie is another spot worth knowing for your list.
And if you’re ever on the Virginia side of the DMV, Level99 Tysons hits that same competitive-socializing vibe with 50-plus physical challenges, puzzles, and an in-house restaurant, all inside Tysons Galleria.
