I don’t gush about a lot of places the way I gush about Evelyn Rose. This little farm-to-table spot in Vienna, Virginia has completely won me over, and if you’re anywhere in NoVa, you absolutely have to check them out! It’s a hyper-seasonal, New American restaurant, which means the menu’s always shifting with whatever’s fresh, and they partner with local farmers to source as close to home as possible. They just never miss.
I promise it’s a 10/10 experience from start to finish, from the very first bite to the last sip. This is the kind of place that works for a special night out, an anniversary, or any night you want a genuinely memorable dinner. Let me tell you why Evelyn Rose has my whole heart, and what to expect when you go.

What Makes Evelyn Rose a Standout Spot in Vienna
Here’s the sweetest detail: Evelyn Rose is named for the grandmothers of the two guys behind it, chef Nick Palermo (grandmother Rose) and co-owner Sam Schnoebelen (grandmother Evelyn), the women who first sparked their love of cooking. That warmth is baked into the whole concept.
It opened in summer 2024 in the space that used to be Bazin’s on Church, and the food leans classic American with an Italian streak, so scratch-made pasta shows up often. The real hook is the hyper-seasonal thing: the menu changes constantly based on what’s coming off local farms, so there’s genuinely always something new. It’s earned love from the Washington Post and got named one of the hottest new restaurants around DC, and once you go, you get it.

What to Order at Evelyn Rose
Real talk: because the menu rotates daily, I can’t promise you’ll see the exact dishes I’m about to name. What I can tell you is the KIND of cooking they do, so you know what to look for on the day you go.
Start With the Focaccia and Pasta
They send out a housemade rosemary focaccia with Portuguese olive oil to open the meal. The pasta program is a core part of the menu, with scratch-made options like ricotta cavatelli with slow-braised brisket and pork shoulder. Fresh pasta is a consistent thread through the menu, so it’s worth looking for on the night you visit.
The Seasonal Mains
This is where the daily-menu magic really shows. Dishes that have rotated through include skate in a lemon butter sauce with sunchoke confit, a 24-hour sous-vide pork shoulder, a dry-aged burger on brioche, smoked pork belly, and even a wild boar rack. They love a clever spin on a classic too, like French onion rings made with brandied alliums, or a deconstructed French onion soup with a beef-shank ragu and comte. Whatever’s on that night is chosen because it’s at its peak, which is exactly the point of a hyper-seasonal menu. Because it rotates daily, no two nights here look quite the same.
The Bar and Dessert
The cocktails are worth a look too. There’s a spirit-forward signature drink called The Evelyn Rose, plus rotating pours like a rosemary daiquiri or a fresh watermelon margarita. Save room for dessert, because they spin fresh ice cream in-house daily.

The Vibe and Experience
The room’s small and intimate in the best way: exposed brick, exposed-beam rafters, framed photos of the grandmothers Evelyn and Rose watching over the room, and custom oak shelving built by Sam’s own dad. Tables are spaced for actual privacy, and there’s a partially open kitchen so you can catch the team in their element. Service is a huge part of why I love it, and I have to shout out chef Palermo, Sam, and the whole crew for the truly elite hospitality. It’s about 30 minutes from DC, and it’s an easy yes for date night or a celebration.

Is Evelyn Rose Worth the Price?
Yes, a thousand times yes! It’s absolutely a splurge, but the seasonal cooking, the from-scratch details, and that elite hospitality add up to a night that actually feels worth it, start to finish. For me it’s a 10/10, and it’s firmly on my NoVa list for a special occasion. If you’re building a proper night out in Northern Virginia, another special-occasion favorite of mine nearby is Peking Gourmet Inn in Falls Church.
Have you guys been to Evelyn Rose yet? If you go, come back and tell me what was on the menu that night, because I love living vicariously through your orders, Nomsters. Save this for your next special occasion, and send it to whoever you’d want across the table!
