Not gonna lie, part of me doesn’t even want to tell you about this one, because it’s my favorite date-night spot and I kind of want to keep it to myself, lol. But The Dugout Arcade in Baltimore is too good not to share. Tucked inside Peabody Heights Brewery, it’s a free-play arcade with 45-plus games and pinball machines, and here’s the magic: you pay one flat cover ($15 on weekdays, $20 on weekends) and then every single game’s set to free play.
No tokens, no quarters, no nickel-and-diming. Deke and I come here to play old-school + Japanese machines while sipping dope beer, and I promise you’ll have a blast. If you want a date night in Baltimore that’s ridiculously fun and a STEAL, this is it.

What Makes The Dugout Arcade a Standout Date-Night Spot in Baltimore
What makes The Dugout different from a regular arcade is the whole setup. It lives inside Peabody Heights Brewery in the Abell neighborhood (the brewery actually sits on the historic site of an old Baltimore Orioles ballpark, which is a fun bit of trivia), so you’re playing games in a real, buzzy brewery with beer flowing.
And instead of feeding machines one game at a time, you pay once at the door and everything’s free play for the rest of the day. That flat-cover model really changes how you play. The machine lineup mixes classic old-school arcade games with some cool Japanese imports, and it rotates, so there’s always something new. (If you love hunting down a good arcade, I also found a secret one in Glen Burnie.)
How It Works and What to Play
Here’s what to know before your first visit, and where to start once you’re in.

The Free-Play Floor
This is the heart of it. One cover charge ($15 weekdays, $20 weekends) buys you unlimited free play on the whole floor for the day, no time limit. That’s 45-plus arcade cabinets and pinball machines, from nostalgic classics to Japanese machines you don’t see everywhere. Because it’s all free play, you’re free to bounce around, get competitive, and actually get good at something instead of burning through cash. It’s such a steal, and it’s exactly why we keep coming back.
Pinball and the Bullpen
Pinball fans, this place is for you. There are pinball machines right on the free-play floor, and there’s also a separate area called the Bullpen with additional pay-to-play pinball so you’ve got even more to sink into. Just know the Bullpen machines are separate from the cover, so bring a little extra if you want to go deep.
Drinks and Snacks While You Play
Since you’re inside a brewery, you can grab a fresh Peabody Heights beer or a house-made hard seltzer while you play, and there are non-alcoholic options like kombucha and La Croix if you’re not drinking. On the food side, the brewery’s own Korean-fusion food truck, The Concession Stand, runs Tuesday through Thursday (think tornado potatoes, kimchi dumplings, tteokbokki, and a Korean smashburger), plus rotating guest trucks other days. One rule to know: food and drinks stay in the bar area and off the machines, which, fair.
Is The Dugout Arcade Free Play?
Once you pay the flat cover charge at the door ($15 on weekdays, $20 on weekends), every game on the main floor’s set to free play with no tokens and no per-game fees, and there’s no time limit tied to your entry, so you’ve got the whole operating day. The only exception is the Bullpen pinball area, which has some separate pay-to-play machines. If you come often, there’s even a membership (the Home Plate Club) that gets you half-price entry. For a full night of gaming, it’s a great deal.
The Vibe and Experience
The vibe’s exactly what you want for a laid-back date or a group hang: a little retro, a little rowdy in the best way, with the hum of a brewery around you. It’s my go-to date night with Deke, but it’s not just for couples, it’s great for friend groups and a little friendly competition too. It’s also all-ages, so families can come (kids need to stay close to a guardian), though the brewery energy makes it feel like a proper night out. If you’re after a different kind of Baltimore date night, my list of Baltimore date-night bars has a few more ideas.
For a bigger date night out, Round1 Towson stacks an entire arcade floor with bowling, billiards, and karaoke all under one roof.

The Dugout Arcade’s one of my favorite date-night spots in Baltimore, full stop. You get unlimited free play, a rotating lineup of games, cold brewery beer, and Korean food truck bites, all for the price of one cover charge. It’s affordable, and it’s genuinely fun. If it were closer to me, I’d be there every week. Want to make it a whole evening? Pair it with cocktails at The Bluebird Cocktail Room for the dreamiest Baltimore date night.
For a totally different kind of arcade outing, Kako Claw at Westfield Montgomery in Bethesda is a claw-machine arcade where the games are skill-based and you can trade up smaller wins for one of those giant plushies.
Have you guys been to The Dugout yet? Let me know your go-to machine in the comments, Nomsters, and send this to your player two. See you at the pinball.
