I went in on a whim and left already planning my next visit. Cube Coffee just opened in Ellicott City, and let me tell you, Nomsters, the space is a VIBE. I loveeeee it. I grabbed their cardamom Spanish latte (made with a house-made syrup) and a slice of chocolate honey cake, and both hit the spot. If you’re in Howard County and you love a modern, aesthetic coffee shop that actually stays open late, this is one to put on your radar. Between the design and the hours, it looks made for lingering with a laptop or catching up with a friend, and I’m genuinely excited to see a spot like this open in Ellicott City. Here’s what you should know before you go.

What Makes Cube Coffee a Standout Ellicott City Cafe
Here’s what makes Cube stand out in a town that isn’t exactly overflowing with late-night options. It’s a modern craft coffee shop with Middle Eastern roots, and co-owner Kashif Munir opened it specifically because he felt Ellicott City was missing a hip coffee spot that stays open into the evening.
On weekends, it’s open until midnight, which alone makes it a rare find in Howard County. It’s also fully halal, a lovely detail for the community, and they lean into house-made syrups (like the cardamom one in my latte) and specialty espresso drinks. It’s the kind of thoughtful, community-minded spot that’s really good to see in the area.
What to Order at Cube Coffee
I only had two things on this first visit, but here’s the rundown, plus what I’m eyeing for next time.

Cardamom Spanish Latte ($6.50)
This is what I ordered, made with a house-made cardamom syrup ($6.50). If you haven’t had a Spanish latte before, it’s an espresso drink made with sweetened condensed milk, so it’s naturally a little richer and sweeter than your standard latte, and this one gets its warmth from that house-made cardamom syrup. I enjoyed it, and if you like a spiced, slightly sweeter latte, it’s worth ordering.
Chocolate Honey Cake ($6.50)
I also grabbed a slice of their chocolate honey cake ($6.50), and it was really yum. Honey cake’s a soft, tender layered cake, and the chocolate version was really yum alongside my latte. If you’ve got a sweet tooth, don’t skip this.
I only had the two things this time (I’ll be back for more), but here’s what else Cube’s known for if you want to explore the menu:
- A baklava latte and a date latte, leaning into those Middle Eastern flavors
- Matcha lattes, hot or iced
- Cube chai, their own house blend
- Single-origin brews for the coffee purists
- A rotating case of baked goods and desserts, plus craft chocolates and snacks like granola and honey
Is Cube Coffee Halal?
Short answer, yes. Cube Coffee is fully halal, with no alcohol served, and it’s even listed on Zabihah, the halal directory. Paired with those late weekend hours, it fills a real gap, because a modern, halal, open-late cafe isn’t easy to find around here. If that’s exactly what you’ve been looking for, this one’s for you.

The Vibe and Experience
The space is the whole reason I fell for this place. It’s modern and inviting, with a mix of seating, low tables with floor cushions, regular tables and chairs, and comfy sofas, so you can settle in however you like. It’s built around connection and community, and it’s a genuinely nice spot to post up with a laptop or meet a friend. You’ll find it in the Normandy Shopping Center with easy parking, and between the design and those late hours, it’s an easy place to settle in. The whole place has such a great energy, and it photographs beautifully too. If you love an aesthetic cafe, Coffee Fi Roastery is another Maryland must-visit for the vibes.

Cube Coffee is definitely worth the visit, especially if you’ve been hunting for a late-night, aesthetic coffee spot in Ellicott City. I only scratched the surface with one latte and a slice of cake, but the space alone won me over, and I’ll def be back to work through more of that menu. For a modern, halal, open-late cafe in Howard County, it’s a great addition to the area. If a cozy cafe is your kind of thing, Cafe June is another Ellicott City favorite worth a stop.
That’s my first look at Cube Coffee, Nomsters. Have you guys checked it out yet? Let me know what I should order next time in the comments. And if you’re on the hunt for more Ellicott City spots, Matcha Time Gift Shop is another local gem for your matcha fix. Save this one and send it to your favorite coffee buddy.
