Chick & Ruth’s: The Must Visit Diner in Annapolis

November 25, 2023

Hey there, Nomsters! Have you ever had those days when you couldn’t get a restaurant off your mind? Wellll, that’s exactly what happened to me with Chick & Ruth’s. Everyone’s been telling me to go SO, my friend Minje and I finally decided to pay them a visit; let me just say, they live up to the hype.

Let’s dive into the feast we had that day, and trust me when I say it was a spread to remember! Naturally, I couldn’t resist trying their famous crab cake, lol. We also indulged in some other treats, BUT I’m still kicking myself for not having enough room for that baked potato. Next time, nomsters. Next time!

Alright, let’s break down our drool-worthy meal, NOM:

The Senator Ben Cardin “Reuben” ($11.99): This Reuben sandwich was made with grilled corned beef, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, and Russian dressing on rye bread. It was solid, but none of their sandwiches come with sides as an FYI.

Crab Cake Platter ($29.99): This platter came with two sides and a roll with butter. I opted for the crab Mac & cheese for a small upcharge (this ended up not being my jam, but I’m still glad I tried it) + coleslaw (this was excellent). The crab cake was huge and flavorful – definitely a solid choice! I wouldn’t say it’s my favorite crab cake in Maryland, but it was still tasty.

If crab dishes are your thing in this part of Anne Arundel County, Willy’s Kitchen in Glen Burnie is a spot to know about, a farm-sourced comfort food diner that also does Chesapeake crab alongside breakfast and brunch.

Sweet Potato Fries ($5.99): These fries were classic but oh-so-yummy. Crispy, slightly sweet, and a perfect companion to the main dishes we got. I just wish there were more – IMO, I thought the portion could’ve been a little better for the price.

Apple Pie à la Mode ($4.99 for the slice + $1.99 for ice cream): this dessert was fantastic! Pro tip: make sure to ask them to heat it up + add a scoop of ice cream. Next time, I want to try their blueberry crumb and caramel apple walnut. All their baked goods are made in house so definitely make sure to indulge when you go.

If from-scratch morning food in Annapolis is your thing, you also need to check out Bread and Butter Kitchen, a woman and veteran owned cafe in Eastport with buttermilk biscuits, legendary scones, and waterfront seating.

Black & White Cookie ($2.99): Andddd speaking of desserts, this cookie was pure heaven! Picture a cake cookie that you just can’t stop eating. That’s precisely what I experienced with this delightful treat. Love at first bite, for real.

Now, for some additional notes you don’t want to miss:

  • The service at Chick & Ruth’s Delly was impeccable! The staff was super friendly and helpful, making us want to come back for their warm hospitality alone.
  • If you’re a wine or beer lover, they offer any wine glass and a 12 oz beer for just $3.99 all day long!
  • Fun fact: Chick & Ruth’s Delly was featured on Man Vs Food and their colossal food challenge is the stuff of legends. It’s wild, believe me! I was shooketh by the size of the milkshakes alone, lol.
  • ALSO, keep in mind that the booths might feel a tad cozy (they’re on the smaller side) so if it’s a busy day, you might feel a little squished, lol.

Alright Nomsters, have any of you visited Annapolis’ hidden gem, Chick & Ruth’s? I’m eager to hear about your experience! Drop a comment below and let’s chat about this spot. PS. Don’t forget to check out my Annapolis tab to read about other must try eats in the area.
