WOW. I am officially kicking myself for not getting to Black Market Bakers sooner. My mom and I went thinking we’d beat the crowd… and yeah, that did not happen. But after talking to a few regulars (and tasting the food), it quickly became clear why there’s basically a line out the door every day. This place is the real deal.
We went all in and tried a little bit of everything, and honestly, there wasn’t a single miss. The Orange Creamsicle Cruffin was flaky, buttery, and filled with bright citrusy goodness – such a fun twist on a classic flavor. The S’mores Cream Bun completely stole the show, though. It was soft, rich, and unbelievably indulgent, easily one of the best pastries I’ve ever had (I’m still thinking about it).
The Strawberry Passion Fruit Scone was light and fruity, while the Dole Whip Danish brought all the tropical vibes in pastry form. And then there was the Garlic Herb Sourdough, which might’ve surprised me the most. It was packed with flavor, incredibly aromatic, and so good that I may or may not have eaten over five slices in one sitting, lol.
A Few Things to Know Before You Go
- Lines can get long, but they move fast
- They offer breakfast and lunch, not just pastries
- Parking is super easy
- There’s some indoor seating plus outdoor tables, but it fills up quickly
- Everyone there was genuinely so kind — immaculate vibes all around
Black Market Bakers completely lives up to the hype. From the pastries to the people to the overall experience, it’s one of those places you immediately want to return to. I’m already planning my next visit, and I’m especially excited to try more of their savory items.
And if you’re already out in the Edgewater area, Pip’s Dock Street Dogs in Annapolis is about 8 miles away and worth adding to the trip, a tiny loaded hot dog stand right on City Dock that has been a downtown Annapolis fixture for almost 17 years.
