I tried Bitty Bread Bakers’ sourdough at the Old Ellicott City Farmers Market, and Nomsters, I am not proud to report that I ate an entire loaf in under two days, lol. No regrets though. Bitty Bread Bakers is a family-run pop-up out of the Ellicott City area, and they don’t have a storefront, so they sell their small-batch sourdough and treats at the OEC Farmers Market on Saturdays and through online drops.
After that first loaf I was hooked, and they were kind enough to send a little more my way so I could do a proper post. Everything I tried was yum, the bread especially, but the desserts were seriously good too. If you love real, hand-baked sourdough and you’re anywhere near Howard County, this one’s a must! Here’s everything I got.

Why Bitty Bread Bakers Is Worth Visiting
The thing that makes Bitty special is that it’s a true small-batch operation, family-owned, hand-baked, and made with fresh, organic ingredients. They started up in 2024 and have built a following the old-fashioned way, one farmers market Saturday at a time. Their range goes way beyond a plain loaf, too: think organic classic sourdough, chocolate chip and double chocolate loaves, bacon and cheddar, roasted garlic and white cheddar, focaccia, scones, and a rotating cast of cookies. It’s the kind of lineup that makes it hard to leave with just one thing. For a sit-down bakery fix in the same town, La Boulangerie is another Ellicott City spot I love.
What to Order at Bitty Bread Bakers
Classic Sourdough Loaf ($12)
The bread’s the whole reason I’m writing this. The classic loaf is fantastic, exactly what you want from a real sourdough, and it’s the one I demolished in two days flat. If you only grab one thing, make it this loaf, and maybe buy a backup because it will not last.
Midnight Velvet Cookies ($4 each)
Okay, these were the MVP. Each one’s stuffed with condensed milk fudge, and I mean STUFFED, so it’s pure decadence in the best way! Next-level, full stop. At $4 a pop they’re an easy yes, and I’d grab a few to take home. They rotate other cookies too, like a brown butter pumpkin oatmeal and a hazel heart, so there’s usually something new to try.

Chocolate Chip Scones ($7)
I LOVED these! Scones can go dry and sad real quick, but not these. They’re a perfect thing to pair with your morning coffee, and they’d make an easy weekend breakfast if you can keep yourself from eating them all first.
Sourdough Focaccia ($7)
Rounding out my haul was the focaccia, and it did not disappoint. A solid savory option if you want something to actually make a meal out of (sandwiches, hi). It’s a nice change-up if you’ve already got a sweet loaf at home. There wasn’t a dud in the bunch.
Where Can You Buy Bitty Bread Bakers?
Since Bitty’s a pop-up, this is the key question. Your most reliable bet is the Old Ellicott City Farmers Market, which runs Saturdays from 9am to 1pm at Tiber Park on Main Street through late October. Off-season, or if you just can’t make it out, they do online drops through Hot Plate, and their Instagram is where they announce pop-ups and where they’ll be next. So follow them, set a reminder, and grab your loaf before they sell out, because the good stuff goes fast.

The Vibe and Experience
Catching Bitty at the OEC Farmers Market is honestly half the fun. The market pops up at Tiber Park in Old Ellicott City with local live music, a free trolley to the parking lots, and a bunch of other vendors, so it’s an easy, low-key Saturday morning outing. You roll up, grab your bread and a cookie (or four), and wander historic Main Street after. It’s the kind of small-business, community feel that makes me love this area. Bring a tote and get there earlyish for the best selection.

Is Bitty Bread Bakers Worth Trying?
YES. The sourdough is fantastic, and the fact that it’s a family-run pop-up doing it all by hand makes me root for them even harder. Grab the classic loaf and the midnight velvet cookies and you’ll get exactly why I’m gushing. If you’re building an Old Ellicott City sweets run, pair it with Sugar Plum and you’re set. This is a genuinely special little bakery, and I can’t wait to see where they pop up next.
