I’m SUPER excited to highlight some of my favorite sushi restaurants in Maryland today. BUT before we get into it, please remember that this is unranked, like ALL my lists. Anywho, I could eat sushi all day every day so I’m pumped to talk recommendations. So without further ado, let’s get to it!

1. Sushi Sono, Columbia
I’ve probably been coming here the longest! They’ve won all sorts of accolades, and it’s easy to see why when you go. The food’s fantastic, the space is warm and inviting, and you get to enjoy gorgeous views of the lake during dinner. What’s not to love?
📍10215 Wincopin Cir, Columbia, MD
⏰M-Sa 11:30-3pm, 5-10pm, Su 12-9pm
2. Sushi King, Columbia
this establishment is a neighborhood favorite that’s known for their delicious sushi & wonderful hospitality. The vibe’s a bit more casual, but you can see AND feel how much they care about their guests. The owners are very present and take the time to make sure everyone’s having a standout experience. Also, I recently saw that they offered omakase so I’ll be back to try this ASAP.
📍6490 Dobbin Rd Suite F, Columbia, MD
⏰M-Sa 11:30-3pm, 5-10pm
3. Sushi Q, Elkridge
I wrote Elkridge because this is the Sushi Q spot I frequent, but they have a lot of locations in the area. I’d say their forte is their maki, but I’m also a big fan of their katsu. It’s always fried to crispy perfection, and the fried rice that comes with is very satisfying.
📍6325 Washington Blvd Unit F, Elkridge, MD
⏰M-Sa 11-10pm, Su 12-10pm
4. Sushi Call, Elkridge
Sushi Call’s another gem in Elkridge that I like! They have some really great happy hour deals here, and they’re also known for their affordable sushi sets (they range from $17-28).
📍7260 Montgomery Rd F, G, Elkridge, MD
⏰M-Th 11-9:30pm, Fr-Sa 11-10:30pm, Su 12-9:30pm
5. Chiyo Sushi, Baltimore
This is my go-to spot in Baltimore! The owners are so nice, and literally everything on their menu’s delicious. They have some more inventive items on their menu as well like sushi pizza, lol. And no I haven’t tried it yet, but I would be lying if I said I wasn’t intrigued. Let me know if you get it before I do, haha!
📍1619 Sulgrave Ave, Baltimore, MD
⏰T-Fr 11-10pm, Sa/Su 3-10pm
6. Sushi Ya, Owings Mills
For those of you looking for delicious sushi in Owings Mills, Sushi Ya’s the place to be. The food’s fantastic, service is great, and the interior’s really, really nice. It’s a nice spot for date night IMO, and they realllly don’t skimp on fish here.
And if you’re up in Baltimore County near Hunt Valley, Izakaya 68 is a newer Japanese izakaya worth checking out, think shareable plates, inari sushi, and cat-inspired robot servers.
📍9616 Reisterstown Rd #215, Owings Mills, MD
⏰T-Su 11-10pm
7. Fukuya, Glen Burnie
The only AYCE sushi spot I’d go to… unless you guys send me a bomb rec that I can stand behind, lol. I thought the fish was pretty dang fresh, and I think it’s wild that they offer AYCE sashimi as well! I especially enjoyed the salmon, tuna, and white tuna. They have a bunch of rolls available as well in addition to hot dishes like udon, teriyaki, and more.
Speaking of bomb AYCE recs, Gyusan in Columbia does all-you-can-eat sushi alongside Japanese BBQ (yakiniku), and I think it’s a really strong addition to this list. Quick update: Fukuya has since rebranded as Koi Sushi, and I wrote a full updated review of Koi Sushi Glen Burnie if you want the details on what’s new.
📍7389 Baltimore Annapolis Blvd, Glen Burnie, MD
⏰M-Th 10:30-9pm, Fr/Sa 10:30-10pm, Su 11-9pm
8. Otani, Gambrills
Otani’s a great option for those of you near Gambrills. They’re almost always busy, and they’re a local favorite for sure. Their omakase options are reasonably priced, and the food’s always been solid.
I did a full write-up on the spot if you want all the details: Otani Gambrills: Omakase and Sushi on Route 3 breaks down the $65 omakase, the hibachi experience, and the Green Monster roll you need to order. One more I’d add to this list now: UMI Sushi in Old Ellicott City, a family-owned Japanese spot on historic Main Street with air-shipped fish, a 10-piece chef’s-choice omakase nigiri, and specialty rolls like the Ruby Toro with fatty tuna belly.
📍1153 MD-3 K, Gambrills, MD
⏰M-Th 11-3pm, 4:30-9:30pm, Fr 11-3pm, 4:30-10:30pm, Sa 11-10:30pm, Su 12-9:30pm

BONUS OPTION: if you’re in the DC area, I highly recommend dining at Zeppelin. They’re one of my clients so you’d think I’m biased, but I promise it’s legit. They offer 30% off at the bar on their ENTIRE menu from 10pm ’til close on Mondays, and they do a phenomenal omakase that priced at $125pp. Their cocktails are amazing, and you NEED to get their painkiller (one of my favorite frozens in the DMV).
Tell me about your favorite places below, Nomsters – I’d love to know what your go-to places are.
