Craving Hour in College Park Serves One of the Best Chicken Rice Platters Around
NOMSTERS!!! I officially found a new favorite chicken rice platter, and I need you to put this on your radar immediately. If you’re anywhere near College Park, head to Craving Hour Halal ASAP.
Minje and I stopped by after work for lunch, and from the first bite, we both just looked at each other like… yep. This is the one. Huge shoutout to the owners for letting me film some behind-the-scenes footage you can tell they really care about what they’re putting out.
Why Craving Hour Halal Stands Out
First off, the truck itself was immaculately clean, which I always appreciate. Everything felt fresh, well-organized, and thoughtfully prepared, and that attention to detail definitely carries over into the food. Portions here are very generous. They don’t skimp on the meat, and every component is flavorful and satisfying.
What We Ordered
Minje went with the Chicken Bowl ($13.99), while I ordered their Combo aka chicken + lamb ($14.99). We both loaded up on veggies and got all three sauces (white, green, and red), which I highly recommend. After the first bite? Immediate “MMmmMMMMMmmm.” No exaggeration.
The rice was perfectly cooked, the meats were juicy and well-seasoned, and the sauces tied everything together beautifully. Comforting, filling, and honestly just really well done.
We also made sure to try some extras, starting with an order of samosas ($6.99 for two with dipping sauce), which were crispy on the outside, flavorful inside, and definitely worth adding to your order.
The owners were also kind enough to let us try their Chicken Biryani ($10.99), which was aromatic, hearty, and super satisfying, along with the Chicken Twister ($8.99). The twister is a great on-the-go option and honestly gave me major snack-wrap vibes. Everything we tried was solid so you really can’t go wrong with whatever you get.
One of the best parts? They’re open until 3 AM. This is absolutely the move after a fun night out with friends – though fair warning, I can already tell they get busy on weekends. Have you guys tried Craving Hour yet?! Let me know by commenting below!
For a different kind of affordable lunch run nearby, Taqueria La Placita in Hyattsville is doing $4 Pueblan-style street tacos that are worth the detour.
