10 Must Try Restaurants in Rockville, Maryland

December 15, 2025

I almost didn’t share this list because a lot of these spots are already slated for my #100AsianRestaurantsInMaryland series… BUT you guys asked, and I promised. So here we are. This isn’t a deep dive, just a high-level love letter to some of the best eats in Rockville, IYKYK.

1. Kuya Ja’s

Kuya Ja’s is widely considered one of the best Filipino restaurants in the DMV, and for good reason. They’re best known for their lechon, crispy seasoned pork with impossibly juicy meat that consistently earns rave reviews. Their menu highlights Filipino comfort classics done right, and many say it’s one of the most authentic Filipino dining experiences you’ll find in Maryland.

2. Z&Z

Z&Z is a beloved, family-owned spot specializing in manoushe, a traditional Levantine flatbread baked to order. I love freshness of the dough, the quality of ingredients, and the warm hospitality. It’s casual, affordable-ish spot that locals proudly introduce to out-of-towners.

3. Bob’s Shanghai 66

Ask anyone in Rockville about soup dumplings and Bob’s Shanghai 66 will come up immediately. This spot is famous for its xiao long bao, with thin skins and rich, savory broth. A longtime staple in the area for Shanghainese comfort food. Go and thank me later.

4. Bao Bei

Bao Bei has earned a loyal following for their house-made bao, crafted from scratch and filled with ultra-tender pork belly. The pillowy texture of the buns is seriously next level. Many fans first discovered Bao Bei through their ghost kitchen days, and excitement is high around their new brick-and-mortar location. Definitely need to stop by soon!

5. Eat A Lao

Eat A Lao is a newer addition to Rockville’s food scene, but it’s already making waves. Known for its bold, unapologetic flavors, this spot showcases Lao cuisine that’s still underrepresented in the area. People frequently mention how refreshing and unique the menu is compared to more familiar Southeast Asian offerings. Pro tip: go with friends and get one of their massive platters to share.

Another heavy hitter in Rockville’s dumpling scene, Shanghai Taste is especially known for its pan-fried soup dumplings, which many diners prefer over the classic steamed version. Think crispy bottoms and uber juicy filling! SO, so good.

Peter’s Grill rounds out the list as a no-frills diner that Rockville locals genuinely love. It’s known for solid sandwiches, generous portions, and friendly service. While it’s not flashy, it’s the kind of place people keep coming back to, and that says everything IMO.
